Southwood Repair Exchange
August 29th from 1-4 pm at the Southwood Community Hall we will be hosting Southwood's second Repair Exchange.

What is a Repair Exchange? It is a free event where community members bring their broken or damaged household items — and volunteer fixers do their best to repair them on the spot! It’s a chance to learn, connect, reduce waste, and share skills!

Fix it, don’t ditch it! Potential items that can be repaired:

Small appliances (toasters, lamps, etc.).
Clothing and textiles (mending rips, sewing buttons).
Jewelry (restringing, small fixes).
Bikes (basic tune-ups and fixes).
Don't have anything that needs fixing at the moment? Come anyways and enjoy some snacks, visit with your neighbours, and check out this cool event!

We will also be accepting donations for several community initiatives during the event:

• Non-perishable food items for the Southwood Community Food Pantry.
• Gently used clothing for the Lutheran Church's annual clothing drive.
• Books to help restock the Little Free Libraries throughout the Southwood community.

Nature is all around us—even in the city! Join staff from Calgary Parks and learn about the local plants and wildlife in our communities.

Join staff from Calgary Parks and Open Spaces to learn about the local plants and wildlife in our communities. Through a guided walk and activities, you will explore one of the many neighborhood greenspaces within Calgary and discover the wild right in your backyard.

Meet by the playground in Southwood Community Park at 618 110 Ave S.W.

Walks are open to all ages - children must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is available on street only.

A Future Beyond the Climate Crisis invites participants to imagine what their communities and worlds can look like beyond the climate crisis. This Art of Protest workshop will use creative writing and other literary methods to explore the importance of political imagination and how it can drive us towards climate solutions.

No creative experience is necessary, all participants will be guided throughout the process!
