"I learned how to use my problem-solving skills to make better decisions and learned how to build off my failures." - Past In the Lead 180 Participant

In the Lead 180 is one of the sanction options for youth who participate in the Youth Justice Committee process. It's a six-week leadership development course that helps young people recognize and utilize their strengths.

Through ITL 180, young people learn to see their strengths, reflect on their influences, identify their values, share about overcoming challenges, and talk about failure and managing uncertainty.

Who has access to my youth record? 🤔

Though youth records are sealed, they can be accessed by specific individuals or groups as listed in the YJCA, including:

✅ The youth, the youth’s parent(s) or guardian(s)
✅ The youth worker, the youth’s lawyer
✅ The police officer, the Crown prosecutor, the judge, the Attorney General of the province
✅ The victim(s)
✅ The director of a correctional facility

⭐ And others, depending on the circumstance. For example, schools may be able to access a youth record if required to ensure the young person complies with an order of the court, to ensure safety of staff & students, or to assist in the rehabilitation of the youth.

⭐ Periods of access to the records vary, and are set out in Section 119(2) of the YCJA.
