Dale Trenholm one of our very talented Club members (CRLC & AFRC) has created a rock library as a way to share his love of rocks & lapidary with his Alberta community! Dale is a professional educator so inside his rock library he is showing how a cabochon is made using rocks in the various rough to polished stages not to mention some of his polished rocks that he had created to give out. We would like to acknowledge Dale on bringing his wonderful & impressive idea to fruition and sharing it with the rest of the rock community! WOW! If you would like more information or would like to create a Rock Library of your own please reach out to Dale T. or comment below as he will be reading the comments! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿชจ๐Ÿซถโ˜ฎ๏ธ

Quite a variety of projects happening at our Thursday night drop in! It was hosted by stewards Chris H. and Adam! Robert, David, Shane & Ryley were busy slabbing rocks. Robert, Christa & David worked on some cabochons. Adam helped Ryley set up the foredom so that she could do some more detailed work on her rocks. Dale N. worked on rings-lots of them! Christa also did some work on her fidget spinner ring that she previously made in Adam's class() on the polishing wheels-all shiny again!

It was the last enamel workshop until autumn with Bev last week! Thanks again Bev H. for hosting such a fun workshop! ๐Ÿ™‚

Jeanette finished the earrings that she had been working on & did more layers of white enamel on her other pair. Kim explored creating templates for the tree design on her pendant & also layered two shades of green enamel to create a landscape. Christa used the abstract shape she drew as a template for her earrings. She cut out, contoured the pieces before enameling them in ultramarine blue. Bev played a bit too adding a layer of opalescent enamel to Christa's earrings as they were both curious what the effect would be on top of the blue.

We are lucky to have CRLC member & professional metal smith/jewelry artist/instructor Adam L. (Merkury Metals) teach many of our silversmithing classes at our Club! Friday Adam taught his 'Spinner Stone Pendant' class to student Christa L. Some of the skills learned in the class were: the math to determine correct band size, using calipers, filing techniques, shaping silver, joining bands for solder, soldering techniques using a torch, annealing silver, polishing & safety. Pictured are results from the class. Christa's is the quartz pendant on the left & Adam's is the dalmatian jasper one with the more intricate bail on the right. A fun members only class that you can also take! Thanks Adam for sharing your knowledge!
