We are lucky to have CRLC member & professional metal smith/jewelry artist/instructor Adam L. (Merkury Metals) teach many of our silversmithing classes at our Club! Friday Adam taught his 'Spinner Stone Pendant' class to student Christa L. Some of the skills learned in the class were: the math to determine correct band size, using calipers, filing techniques, shaping silver, joining bands for solder, soldering techniques using a torch, annealing silver, polishing & safety. Pictured are results from the class. Christa's is the quartz pendant on the left & Adam's is the dalmatian jasper one with the more intricate bail on the right. A fun members only class that you can also take! Thanks Adam for sharing your knowledge!

We are excited as new CRLC member Shane brought us some new fun 3D printed things this week to try out in our Lapidary Studio! A scribe guide, templates and a set of slab thickness measurement guides for our saws! He wants us to try them out knowing full well that they are not made to last forever but curious how long they last & if they are useful. Let him know.

Shane has also contributed lots of small tumbled rocks that were very popular as give aways to lots of excited kiddos at our education outreach at the recent Girl Guide Rally & our May CRLC Rock & Mineral Show!

Thank you Shane for your contributions!😊

Lots happening in the CRLC jewelry studio this week at Bev's enameling workshop! This time Jeanette explored composition & colour with different enamel media (granular, filament and glass cylinder). B.D. (a new CRLC member & enameling first timer) not only completed her two first enameled pieces ever but worked on her sawing techniques cutting out her shapes. She tried sgrafitto on one piece and layering opaque and translucent enamels on the other. Christa sawed her own copper pieces, shaped them convex, enameled two of them polished the other two. There was even a line up for the kiln. The group was very inspired this week!
