Sexual Assault Centres and Child Advocacy Centres provide critical supports for survivors across Alberta at every stage of their healing journey.

We are investing nearly $21 million to strengthen the work of these organizations to provide specialized supports for individuals, children, youth and families impacted by sexual violence and abuse.

Through this investment, we are expanding access to timely, responsive care for vulnerable Albertans.

You don’t need to be able to villainize someone to justify ending the relationship.

If it doesn’t feel right, that’s enough.

We need to stop seeing intimate partner abuse as limited only to the partner being abused.
The damage being done to the children who know about it let alone see it is catastrophic.
This makes them victims too.

Awarding custody based on ‘no abuse to the children’ is pathetic.
Not only does abuse often escalate and transfer from the partner to the children, but even witnessing abuse does enormous damage.

Then you add in they are seeing it done from and to people in their lives who are there to love and protect them….

Even if the courts to not wake up we need to. Speak up. Speak out. Think of the children.

If we actually want the statistics to change, that’s where we MUST start.

Learn the early signs of abuse here and seek help if you are in trouble.
