Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area

On September 19, the annual Carmen Knittig Memorial Golf Tournament brought the community together in loving memory of Carmen Knittig.

Through the incredible generosity of the Knittig family, participants and supporters, this year’s tournament raised more than $13,000 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area mentorship programs, as well as a local scholarship supporting youth in Crossfield and the surrounding area.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this meaningful event possible. Thank you for honouring Carmen’s memory while creating opportunities for young people in our community. 💙

A legacy of mentorship. A lasting impact. 💚

As a young person, Jorden McCullough experienced the power of mentorship firsthand as a Little with Big Brothers Big Sisters. That experience stayed with him, inspiring him to give back as a volunteer mentor in adulthood.

Jorden’s belief in the life-changing power of mentorship continues to make a difference today.

We are deeply grateful to have received two generous memorial gifts in his honour from the Jorden Glenn McCullough Memorial Fund and the Trevor and Amy Cooper Family Legacy Fund, both held at the Calgary Foundation.

These thoughtful gifts honour Jorden’s legacy while helping more young people build meaningful connections, discover their potential, and thrive.

To Jorden’s family and everyone who has helped carry his legacy forward, thank you. 💚

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we’re taking time to learn, listen and reflect. 🧡

Our team recently gathered on the land, with Îyâ Mnathka (Mount Yamnuska) in view, for a day of cultural teachings, stories, reflection, singing and dancing.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to deepen our understanding of the history, cultures and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples, and to continue learning as part of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation.

Today and every day, we honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.
