Calgary Run for Water On Saturday June 13th, 2020, join us for Calgary’s running event for global –minded citizens of all ages. Learn more at runforwater.ca

Calgary’s Run for Water is more than a run. Over seven years, participants have raised over $450 000 for clean water projects in Ethiopia through participation in our 10K and 5K walk/run and our Learn program. This event brings together a diverse group of individuals, families and schools to actively assist in creating solutions to the world water crisis.

YOU made this happen! Because of your generosity, we raised $120,000 throughout December and 12 Days of Giving!

This brings a new era for tens of thousands of people in some of the most marginalized communities in our world. We can’t thank you enough for partnering with these communities to invest in their future.

We’d love to hear what days in our 12 Days of Giving you supported. Share in the comments below 👇🏽

On the 12th day of giving, we are starting where we began by asking you to support one person with access to clean water. 💧

The impact that one person can have is immense. Among all the things we do in community, water is the essential building block that enables the rest of our work.

‼️ The first 35 people to donate $35 today, will receive a very special hand-made Run For Water bracelet. Donate today and your gift will arrive in the new year.

Not sure what to get a loved one? It’s pretty special when you can tell them they are the reason one more person in this world has access to clean water.

This holiday season, make a donation to Run For Water in their name. We’ll send you a special email that you can print out and gift to them. Gift clean water and empowerment today 💧💙

On the eighth day of giving, give sports equipment ⚽️🏐🥏

Volleyballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes are hot commodities in our partner communities. We’ve lost count how many times we were challenged to either a volleyball or a running race when we visit our partners! When we fund a school building, we make sure there is a playground built as well.

Give the gift of PLAY today by donating $15. Click runforwater.ca/12daysofgiving to donate.

On the seventh day of giving, give supplies for early childhood education📚✏️

We know that literacy needs to begin before kindergarten for maximum impact on the development brain, so with every school we support we make sure that one classroom is dedicated to Early Childhood Education.

Donate $15 today to help provide kids a place to learn through play.

On the sixth day of giving, give business education training. Once communities have access to clean water, this frees up time for women who no longer have to walk hours for water daily. They now have time to start businesses and perform income-generating activities. 💸

A big part of our work with rural communities is doing capacity building and knowledge transfer. With the right tools and training provided by our Ethiopian experts, women have the opportunity for economic independence.

Give skills today on Day 6. Donate $20 by visiting runforwater.ca/12daysofgiving.

On the second day of giving, give high school education for girls. 📚 When clean water comes to a community, it frees up girls to pursue their education. However, because high schools are located in towns far way from these rural communities, most girls are forced to quit school after grade 7 and give up on their dreams.

With our Educate A Girl Program, bright young girls from rural communities receive a scholarship to attend school in town. 🌟

Donating $20 today will cover a month of tuition for one girl. Give education by visiting runforwater.ca/12daysofgiving.

On the first day of giving, give access to clean water 💧 Accessible clean water is key to securing health, education, economic, and social well-being.

The gift of clean water means kids can go to school and have time to play, mothers can start businesses, fathers can water their crops, and no one suffers from water-borne diseases.

$35 brings clean water to one person for life.

Join us on Day 1 and give by visiting runforwater.ca/12daysofgiving

We love a good .yyc initiative! And we love even more a good CEYA partnership! And this one couldn’t be coming at a more critical time for youth in Calgary.
If you know of a student in grade 7-12 who is in need of a lap top now that learning has moved on line, let them know there’s an opportunity coming! Keep an eye on ceya’s Instagram page (and our IG too!) for more information coming soon.

East African Immigrant Outreach Support Society (IOS) is the first local grassroots organization we have decided to support.

Initially established as Ethiopian & Eritreans Covid 19 Support Group, IOS is a ground up, volunteer driven, locally run society that tries to fill the service gaps that exist for East African immigrants who live in Calgary.

IOS currently has an initiative running to help children who have lost a parent in the last year to still celebrate Christmas with presents under the tree.

With individual sponsorships & a donation from the Calgary Run for Water, IOS is able to ensure that 20 children in Calgary will be supported this Christmas.

IOS has also identified a similar need amongst single mothers in the community. If donations & support continues to come in, IOS would like to extend this program to single mothers as well.

If you are interested in learning more about IOS or any of their programs, please head over to check out their page & get in touch with Adi Ayassu Daniel Equbat!
