Our name means 'clean air,' and our mission is methane. We’re on a mission to combat the unprecedented challenge of a warming planet, while recognizing that today’s oil and gas producers are an integral part of the transition, and in turn, the solution. Our first technology uses liquid nitrogen, a non-polluting gas that constitutes 78% of the air we breathe, to power remote oil and gas well site d
evices. In doing so, the need for methane gas as an operating fuel is completely eliminated, as is the corresponding release of harmful methane gas. When vented to the atmosphere through pneumatic, or 'gas powered' devices, methane is a highly potent and particularly harmful greenhouse gas that accounts for well over 7 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year in Alberta alone. Until now, there has been no widely adaptable solution. Particularly on small, low-producing wells where introducing a solar-powered generator or other battery-operated device is extremely complex and cost-prohibitive. The Kathairos system has no moving parts and requires no maintenance or electricity. Operator involvement is reduced to a single on/off nitrogen gas supply valve, and everything else is automated – including the carbon credits. Further, with Kathairos' unique tank leasing and nitrogen refill model, we are able to provide the lowest cost solution in the fight against remote well site methane emissions, period. In fact, the abatement cost for the Kathairos solution is less than the actual carbon credits generated. This means that for Alberta producers, it's a completely costless solution. Even better, our team will manage the offset project planning, reporting and credit serialization process from start to finish.
