Happy Birthday, Inder Grewal ❤️🙏

Today is the birthday of one of the very special person in our GNFK family, Inder Grewal.

Our journey with Inder started years ago when he first came downtown to one of our cooked-food distributions at the Drop-In Centre. He asked me a few simple questions: “What do you do? Why do you do it? And how long have you been doing this?”

Then he asked the question that I will never forget: “Is there anything I can do for you?”

I asked him what he did for a living, and he told me he owned a trucking company. I explained that we were looking for warehouse space for cross-docking and trailers to help with our growing logistics operation.

From that day until today, Inder has stood beside us without ever asking for anything in return.

The two brand-new trailers that you see us using have been with GNFK for years. Inder never asked us to pay him back, and never expected anything in return. Every year, he personally calls us to make sure the trailers are properly maintained.

In the beginning, Inder and his team spent countless hours helping us with logistics. A lot of the work happened behind the scenes, but it made a huge difference in our ability to serve thousands of families.

Inder, we truly appreciate your generosity, trust, time, and continued support. People like you remind us that community service is not always about donations. Sometimes it is about simply saying, “How can I help?” and then standing by those words for years.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible volunteer team. Your dedication, hard work, and countless hours behind the scenes are what make every distribution possible. Your selfless seva truly inspires us. ❤️

Special thanks to Whitehorn Community Association and all its members for warmly accommodating GNFK and allowing us to use your facility. Your support means so much to us.

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday to two incredible members of the Guru Nanak Free Kitchen family, Ranbir Singh Purba and Geeta Kaur! 🎂🎉

GNFK is truly blessed with gems like Ranbir Singh Purba and Geeta Kaur. Their kindness, dedication, and selfless service inspire everyone around them.

❤️ Ranbir Singh Purba is a hardworking, humble, and family-oriented person, blessed with a wonderful daughter and son. Three years ago, he stopped by GNFK intending to volunteer for just a couple of hours on a weekend. Those few hours became the beginning of an incredible journey of seva. Since then, Ranbir has been a regular volunteer, always ready to serve with dedication, humility, and a smile.

Every Friday, Ranbir can be found serving with the same passion and commitment at our Whitehorn Community Association grocery distribution. Week after week, he shows up with the same positive attitude and selfless spirit. Great work, Ranbir! 🫡❤️

❤️ Geeta Kaur’s journey with GNFK began differently. One day, she noticed the huge lineup at one of our grocery distributions and stopped to ask what was happening. During our short conversation, she learned that one of our biggest challenges was the lack of a 53-foot storage trailer.

About a week later, during a meeting, she asked how she could contribute. As usual, I suggested bringing samosas, coffee, or pizza for our 200 volunteers. But Geeta’s heart was set on solving the challenge she had heard about. Thanks to her determination and the incredible support of her wonderful group, that conversation became a reality, and GNFK received the storage trailer we desperately needed. That trailer continues to play a vital role in helping us serve thousands of families every month.

“Seva karat hoye nihkami, tis kau hot parapat Swami.”

Today, we celebrate not only your birthdays but also your beautiful hearts and unwavering commitment to humanity. Volunteers like Ranbir and Geeta remind us that one act of kindness, one conversation, or a few hours of service can make a lifelong difference.
