This Blog post is about the conclusion of my transition pastoral service at The Neighbourhood Alliance Church in Langdon on September 13, 2026, and a little of my journey in this capacity over the last twenty years.

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, I shared a final message with The Neighbourhood Alliance Church of Langdon, Alberta. I had been working with the church as a transition pastor since September 1, 2025. The church called me to serve in this capacity after their previous pastor resigned a few months earl...

While puzzling this winter, we have been reminded of its many applications ro life. Maybe you have felt that way too in your puzzling experience this winter...

Puzzling is a favourite winter pastime for many of us here in Canada. Dark winter evenings afford wonderful relaxing opportunities to work together (or alone) to engage in the challenge of recreating an attractive scene from a large number of jumbled pieces. Always, the promise is that if one is abl...

New Year's Day is a good day to publish a Blog article about one's passion -- in this case about an organization called, Ratio Christi. To learn more about this organization and how it might come to exist on university campuses here in Canada, check out the links in the Blog. I hope readers will be inspired concering the importance for knowing the excellent rational foundation of the Christin faith -- for the year ahead and beyond!

As this New Year begins, I find myself more passionate than ever about the wonder of the Good News which Christmas represents. Corresponding to that passion is my desire to do whatever I can to pass on that Good News just as the shepherds did after they had received it from angels and then went […...

In my work as a transition pastor at the Evangelical Free Church, in Taber, Alberta, we are now seeking the right person to serve as a lead pastor. If you are interested, or know someone who might fit, please send them this pastoral profile which also has contact information: https://www.taberefc.ca/blog/lead-pastor-job-posting.

Lead Pastor Profile Taber Evangelical Free Church is praying for God’s provision of a Lead Pastor with pastoral experience and a servant-leader heart who senses God’s call to be its shepherd. TEFC took root in the town of Taber almost 80 years ago through a children’s ministry that began in...

Hadn't posted a Blog article for some time, but here is a subject that I think is of great relevance for church ministry in these days. In the midst of our disciple-making zeal, let's not lose sight of the very nature and meaing of what it means to be a full-fledged participant in the local church.

Recently, I have been intrigued by the interest many evangelical Christians have expressed concerning the pursuit of true disicpleship — often apart from, or in contrast to, participation in the life of the church. It seems there is a movement these days that is increasingly critical of the local ...

As mentioned near the end of my book on postmodernism, "Thoughtful Adaptations to Change," I believe it's helpful to think in terms of a basic difference between the Church and the Kingdom of God. This article illustrates that difference and hopefully sheds some light on that difference.

Since January of this year, I’ve enjoyed the privilege of serving the Evangelical Free Church of Taber, Alberta, as its transition pastor. This role involves providing pastoral leadership for the church when it is seeking to understand its larger ministry better with a view to also finding a suita...

It's a good time of year to think about the weather...

After a week of very cold weather here in Calgary, it was finally warm enough to get out and take the dogs for a walk. Looking west from the ridge near our house, I was able to capture this beautiful view of the Rockies. The sun was bright and the air was clear making it […]
