As we look toward an exciting future as The Nonprofit Chamber, we also want to reflect on our history and the path that has brought us here. The roots of what is now The Nonprofit Chamber go back to the late 1990s when the need for an umbrella organization for Alberta's nonprofit and voluntary sector was first recognized. With the sector facing common challenges, it became clear that this type of organization was needed to build capacity and provide leadership on critical nonprofit policy issues across Alberta.

Subsequent discussions and community consultations led to the formation of CCVO in 2004, which was established as a membership-based organization to strengthen Calgary’s vibrant nonprofit sector and address sector-related public policy issues in Alberta.

We are incredibly proud of our history and thankful for the unwavering support of our community over the past two decades. We look forward to this new chapter and continuing our work with all of you under our new brand, The Nonprofit Chamber. Make sure that you follow our new page!

After our announcement of our new name and brand last week, we are thrilled to reintroduce ourselves as The Nonprofit Chamber. This name better reflects who we are and where we’re headed as an organization – and signifies our growth since our inception in 2004.

The Nonprofit Chamber stands ready to further strengthen the nonprofit sector's voice in Alberta, working to ensure the needs and impact of our dynamic sector are recognized.

This rebrand is more than a name change; it’s a commitment to continuing our work with renewed clarity and purpose. We’re grateful for our community’s support over the years and are excited to embark on this journey together. CCVO is excited to share that we’re taking our next step forward – we are now the Nonprofit Chamber!

For 20 years, the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations has been proud to serve as a voice for the nonprofit sector in Calgary and beyond. Since our inception in 2004, our organization has grown, adapted, and evolved to better meet the needs of the nonprofits we serve. With over 30,000 nonprofits in the province dedicated to improving lives and strengthening communities, our role has never been more important.

As Alberta’s nonprofit landscape has expanded and changed, so have we. While we continue to advocate for and support our sector, we recognized the need for a new name and brand for greater clarity, relevance, and differentiation in the nonprofit sector.

That’s why we made the important decision to rebrand as the Nonprofit Chamber. This new name embodies our growth and our ongoing commitment to being a strong, unified voice for our diverse and dynamic nonprofit sector.
