Tomorrow’s Equestrian Canada AGM is an important moment for Canada’s equestrian community.

This Horse Sport article highlights key issues around transparency, consultation, financial pressures, and the relationship between EC and the PTSOs.

AEF believes strong sport systems are built through trust, collaboration, accountability, and meaningful input from those working directly with equestrians.

We encourage Alberta members to stay informed and engaged.

If EC is willing to listen, explain, compromise, and rebuild trust, this AGM could become a turning point. If not, the divide between EC and the provinces may widen.

Meet Jessa Arnold, AEF’s Membership Coordinator! 🐴

Jessa has been with AEF for 4 years and plays a key role in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Her days are a mix of emails, memberships, problem-solving, and the occasional “quick fix” that turns into a full puzzle to solve. From helping members get set up and active, to answering questions, processing registrations, and keeping records accurate, no two days look the same—but staying organized and supporting members is always the priority.

Her favourite part of the role? Connecting with members, hearing their stories, and attending events where she gets to put faces to names and see the community in action.

Outside of work, Jessa enjoys trail riding with her semi-retired horse, and her ideal barn day looks like a slow summer “spa day”—a groom, some quiet time in the wash bay (even if her horse disagrees), and ending the day relaxing in the pasture with no rush to be anywhere else.

Riding the trails is a joy—but it comes with its challenges.

Stay alert for common trail hazards like uneven terrain, low branches, wildlife, and sudden obstacles. Being prepared keeps both you and your horse safe and ensures a fun, worry-free ride.

Take your time, ride responsibly, and always scout ahead when exploring new trails.

Spring grazing season is here, but transitioning your horse to pasture too quickly can do more harm than good.

Fresh grass is rich and high in sugars, making a gradual introduction essential for your horse’s digestive health. Taking the time to transition properly helps prevent issues and sets your horse up for a healthy, successful season.

Small steps now make a big difference later.

Save this guide and share it with your barn community.

The Equine Emergency Disaster Fund is now OPEN for the 2026 season. 🚨

Emergencies can happen quickly — wildfire, flood, evacuation, or other declared disasters — and caring for horses during these situations can place a heavy financial burden on owners.

The Equine Emergency Disaster Fund was created to help Alberta horse owners with emergency-related expenses such as:
-Temporary boarding
-Feed and water
-Evacuation-related costs
-Emergency veterinary care

📌 Save this link now so you have it if you ever need it: https://albertaequestrian.com/equine-emergency-disaster-fund/

If you find yourself in an emergency situation:
✔️ Document as much as possible
✔️ Take photos and keep records
✔️ Save all receipts related to horse care and evacuation expenses

Having clear documentation can help support your application for relief funding.

Please share this post so more horse owners across Alberta know support may be available when they need it most. 💛
