International Volunteer Day celebrates and recognizes the efforts of all volunteers worldwide who have dedicated their time, energy and skill to make a positive impact. Each year International Volunteer Day is associated with a theme. This year's theme is the power of collective action. 🙌

WilderFutures thanks and appreciates all volunteers who have helped in past projects and who may join us for future projects, such as our annual Monster March. We can not wait to work with everyone again.

Hundreds of thousands of Canadian families can’t find child care when they need it.

That’s why on November 30th, families and advocates from across Canada are joining together to mark the National Day of Action on Child Care and Early Learning. Join us in calling for an end to the severe shortage of licensed child care spaces in
Canada. 💕

National Child Day has been celebrated across Canada since 1993 to commemorate the United Nations’ adoption of two documents centered on children’s rights: the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1959, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989. The Convention on the Rights of the Child outlines the fundamental rights of every child, their right to proper education, health, safety, and protection from exploitation.

We are committed to advocating for quality, accessible and enriching care for all children. Our hope is a child care system that leaves no child behind. We acknowledge and applaud Canada’s first step towards Universal Child Care and will continue to champion and advocate for its expansion.

To all the future leaders, inventors, artists and educators of tomorrow - may we continue to raise, encourage and support their growth and development!

For more information on the history of this day check out The Canadian Child Care Federation and the UNICEF page for their toolkit guide.

Nelson Mandela Day is a day to honour the legacy of an individual who stood for equality and freedom. He believed in the power of education as a tool to break the cycle of poverty and inequality. ✨

WilderFutures continues to stand for inclusion and diversity through our values, vision and mission and initiatives. Some of these initiatives include:
- Young Readers Program: focusing on providing educators and children with books on underrated topics and authors.
- Partnership with the Capstone Students from Mount Royal University to aid us in developing content for our workplace including our alliedFutures Project, Mental Health Handbook and more.

By recognizing the importance of educating the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers, Nelson Mandela strives to be mindful, inclusive and educate everyone equally. 💪

Let us all strive to embody his spirit and work towards a better and more inclusive world. 💕
