Feb 8th: MAPSS Fundraiser Minis

MAPSS Fundraiser 15-minute mini sessions with 5 edited images are here!

The Mini Session will be held at the Grain Exchange building downtown Calgary in unit 412. The address is 815 1st Street SW. To gain access to the building, please press the up arrow on the outside call boxx and dial 412 to be buzzed in. Please proceed up the elevator to the 4th floor.

There is a lobby inside suite 412 for your family to safely wait for your turn. Please only arrive ten minutes early to avoid overlapping with another family.

For parking, there is a lot behind the building that is only $1 an hour on weekends. This is the best option, especially with little kids! To access the lot, please drive down 9th ave and turn left into the lot.

These mini-sessions are intended for families (parents + children) who are a part of MAPSS. However, if you wish to bring extended family members (grandparents, aunties, uncles, and more), please book two-time slots back to back to accommodate your family members and provide you with various images. Please arrive on time for your booked session (no more than 5 minutes before your spot to safely wait for your turn). Please bring indoor footwear to be comfortable in your photoshoot.

Images will be available a week later as an online gallery sent directly to your email address. You can select your favourite photos through the gallery (there is an online guide on how to do that), and you have the option to purchase additional images.

If you are feeling shy, you will be assisted with posing, and of course, requests for photos are always welcomed. I am looking forward to meeting you and your family for your mini-session!

p.s. if you wish to have the images private and not shared online, please let me know in advance.

Welcome to Wednesday Wonder! Each week we will write about a Montessori activity you can do with your little and not so little ones. Feel free to spread the love to Grandparents and other caretakers in your loved one’s life. Below is a list of local activity suggestions to help with planning connection and play based learning or use the suggestions as inspiration for your own idea.

1: This Saturday, October 11th the Calgary Zoo is hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic. Bring your little ones and their favourite plushies to the zoo for some TLC. For just a $5 donation per stuffed toy, our dedicated Animal Health team, educators, and volunteers will help clear up the mystery of visiting the doctor’s office and explain the importance of regular medical care for both animals and people in a fun and informative way – all while supporting a great cause!

2: Hold a Teddy Bear Clinic at home and show empathy to your little one’s treasured stuffies as you mend areas that have been loved so much!

3: Take a nature walk and collect pine cones and leaves to make wreaths for another member of your community such as a retirement home or neighbour that may not be mobile right now. An all ages activity that lends empathy and creativity to a fun day!

World Teacher Day is a wonderful opportunity to practice Montessori activities such as Individual Expression. While we are not in classrooms today, it is an opportunity to do something that shows your child’s individual ideas at home. Activities such as creating a poster to place in your window at home titled “Why I Love My Teacher” followed by a list or drawings that express the working title. Don’t forget to tag us or send us a message with a photo of their poster so we may celebrate your child’s love and appreciation for their teacher, right here on our page!

Montessori quotes about imagination often highlight the need to awaken interest, stimulate the child’s mind, and encourage them to use their imagination to create
