Our goal is to create a dynamic space that draws in diverse people of all age ranges, abilities and interests. We hope to inspire co creation and community resiliency through the offering of a space for people to share their gifts while giving back to the greater community. We offer accessible rental rates for events and workshops, an educational community garden, a local farmers market and gathe
rings for members and friends. In the last year and half of being open, we have showcased over 100 great events, family friendly festivals such as Urban Aggie Day and the Abundance festival and hosted informative workshops on Permaculture, Bee keeping, Nutrition, fitness and more. We have also become the main venue for 3 different improvisation groups, a horticultural therapy program and house a hyper local farmers market. Our vision for the future is to continue with what we are already doing and also grow the space and offer school programming, have Calgary’s top talent showcased at our events, run a full gallery space, build a forest garden and greenhouse, have a bustling farmers market and have a flourishing community of supportive AREA members invested in the spaces success. We would love to see an AREA and local farmers market in every community and will happily and openly share our model in hopes to see this happen.
