The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland Welcome to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland. I'táámito'táaattsiiyio'pi (Eeh-daah-mee-doh-daat-tsee-yoop)

Harmonious meeting place.

Welcome to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland, formerly Fort Calgary. Located where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet, The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland, is a place of Indigenous gathering and ceremony steeped in thousands of years of tradition and history. Fort Calgary was built on the land at The Confluence in 1875 by the North-West Mounted Police. The land is home to many complex stories

that span thousands of years. The Confluence, through meaningful programming, strives to tell accurate stories rooted in this land from a variety of perspectives. Offerings include exhibits, talks, tours, workshops, youth education programs, summer camps, movies, art shows, concerts, festivals and venue rentals for social and corporate events. Today, the opening ceremony for Aboriginal Awareness Week was held at The Confluence. Thank you to everyone who showed up to support, and thank you our partners, Calgary Foundation and Trellis Society for helping make this event happen.

Throughout this week, there events around the city celebrating and honouring the rich diversity, cultures, traditions and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

🧡We're also partnered with Trellis for the 17th Annual Walk for Reconciliation, taking place this Sunday, June 21. Please join us at 8:30 am to honour the countless lives harmed by, and lost to, Canada's residential school system. There will be an outdoor gathering with speeches, a free community meal, fireside stories with Indigenous Elders and more at The Confluence after the walk. Learn more and RSVP at theconfluence.ca/events/wfr-2026

Support The Wandering Spirit, the city-led Residential School Memorial Project, and contribute to a permanent place of remembrance and reflection for those impacted by and lost to the residential school system.

Knowledge Keeper Adrian Wolfleg sees this memorial as an access point to provide a space for healing, truth-telling and education. By supporting The Wandering Spirit and being part of the story, donors are essential in building a place for Calgarians to learn, remember and walk together toward a more compassionate future.

The Confluence has committed to fundraising $1 million towards The Wandering Spirit, and we're 92% of the way there but need a bit more support to reach the goal. You can make an impact and be part of the story by donating or sponsoring the project.

🚶Lace up your shoes and join us for our daily walking tours, beginning in June and running until September! ☀️

We have three educational walking tours running throughout this summer:

🌎History of the Land
In 1875, the arrival of the North-West Mounted Police forever changed the land and its people. This reflective tour explores how the past and present intertwine, and how the land, its people, and their stories continue to evolve over 150 years later.

🧡Path to Reconciliation
Learn the truth about the impacts of colonialism in Canada on this riverside tour designed to spark introspection and provide attendees with a fuller understanding of Truth and Reconciliation and why settler-led reconciliation matters.

🏳️‍🌈Q***r History
Discover stories of gender, sexuality, and queerness in the early days of Calgary and Canada and the complex history of colonialism, militarism, industrialization and criminality that affected gender and sexuality in this one-hour walking tour.

🗓️ Twice daily, Wednesday-Sunday, starting at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm
⏰ 1-1.5 hours
🎟️ $20-$25

See our full tour schedule at theconfluence.ca/tours to find out what tours are running on which days, and get your tour tickets today!
