We served more than 40 people this past Thursday and, thankfully, managed to avoid the rain. For many of the people we met, however, staying dry has been an ongoing challenge over the last several days as wet weather continues to make life even more difficult for those living outdoors.

Throughout the evening, we provided bags containing a sandwich, snack bag, socks, and a rain poncho. We also distributed harm reduction supplies, underwear, period products, hygiene kits, blankets, and other immediate-need items.

Beyond supplies, we offered housing check-ins, resource referrals, and wellness checks for several individuals. These conversations and connections are just as important as the items we hand out, helping ensure people know they are seen, supported, and not forgotten.

A huge thank-you to our incredible volunteer team: Jonie, Emily, Sylvia, and Krista. Your compassion, dedication, and willingness to show up week after week make this work possible.

We are a women-led and women-powered organization committed to supporting our community with dignity, respect, and practical assistance. We are proudly independent, non-religious, and sustained entirely through community donations and grant funding.

Wet. Windy. Cold.

For the past 5.5 years, we've been out every Monday night without missing a single outreach shift. Nights like tonight are exactly why that commitment matters. When the weather keeps most people indoors, those with nowhere to go are left to face the elements, and that's often when support is needed most.

We didn't see our usual numbers this evening, but every person we connected with was grateful for a warm conversation and practical support.

Tonight we distributed bags containing snacks, sandwiches, socks, and rain ponchos. We also provided harm reduction supplies, naloxone, period supplies, toques, mitts, and other immediate-need items to help people stay as safe, warm, and dry as possible.

Outreach is about more than supplies. It's about showing up consistently, building trust, and reminding people that they have not been forgotten, regardless of the weather or circumstances.

A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who braved the rain, wind, and cold tonight: Susan, Erin, Laveinna, Emily, and Darby. Your dedication ensures that our unhoused neighbours continue to receive support, compassion, and connection every single week.

We connected with over 60 people last tonight. With the heat, many folks were extremely thirsty, and hydration became one of the biggest immediate needs we saw on the street. Along with water, we handed out sandwiches, snack bags, cupcakes, and a wide range of supplies throughout the evening.

It was a very warm night, and tensions were high in some areas. At one point, we were able to help de-escalate a situation between security and a gentleman who was understandably frustrated. Sometimes a little food, patience, and a chance to vent can completely change the direction of an interaction.

Tonight’s outreach was truly a team effort:

Arlene focused on housing check-ins and support

Krista handled harm reduction

Emily managed supplies

Lavienna kept food distribution moving

Thanks to Jonie for leading the group!

Thank you to everyone who continues to show up week after week with compassion, patience, and care for our unhoused neighbours. The need remains high, especially during this heat, and every conversation and every small act of support matters.

Delayed post from Thursday, May 21 ❤️

Another powerful night in Forest Lawn connecting with our unhoused neighbours.

In just a few hours, our outreach team connected with more than 60 people, providing sandwiches, snack bags, harm reduction supplies, Crave cupcakes, socks, period supplies, bras, underwear, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other urgently needed items.

But outreach is about far more than supplies.

It’s about showing up consistently. It’s about building trust week after week with people who are too often ignored, displaced, or treated as invisible. It’s about conversations, housing check-ins, resource referrals, shared laughter, hugs, and reminding people that they matter.

Every connection matters.

Behind every tent, every backpack, every person trying to survive outside, is a human being deserving of dignity, compassion, safety, and care.

We are grateful to walk alongside this community and witness the strength, resilience, and humanity of the people we meet each week.

Huge thank you to our incredible volunteers — Jenn, Nye, Emily, Laveinna, and Krista — for giving their time, energy, and hearts to this work.

Tonight was a reminder of why outreach matters.

Over 2.5 hours, our team covered more than 6 km and connected with over 45 people in the community. We provided harm reduction supplies, sandwiches, snack bags, socks, period supplies, clothing, hygiene kits, and other immediate-need items. We also offered resource referrals and housing check-ins.

Behind every interaction is a person with a story, needs, and challenges that often go unseen. Outreach is more than handing out supplies — it is about building trust, reducing barriers, and meeting people where they are with dignity and care.

Throughout the night, we conducted several welfare checks for people we were concerned about. One individual was experiencing a drug poisoning. Our volunteer team responded immediately, administering two doses of naloxone until EMS arrived and took over care.

Moments like this reinforce what we see every week: harm reduction saves lives, community care matters, and access to support can make the difference between crisis and another chance tomorrow. The need continues to be real, and we will continue showing up.

A huge thank-you to our volunteer team this evening — Laveinna, Emily, Jenn, Maureen, and Arlene. Your compassion, teamwork, and commitment make this work possible. Thank you for showing up and making a difference in your community.

Delayed post from May 14, 2026

We connected with over 50 people and were out for about 2.5 hours. Thankfully, the weather was fairly nice.

Items provided included sandwiches, snack bags, hygiene supplies, Kleenex, period supplies, harm reduction supplies, naloxone, socks, bras, clothing, and other immediate-need items.

We also came across one person with a wound and were able to provide first aid supplies.

Our volunteers had some meaningful conversations throughout the evening and were able to offer resource referrals as well.

A huge thank you to our fabulous crew tonight: Shawna, Sarah, Victoria, Laveinna, and Emily.
