Filipino-Canadian Mountaineering Club Our Purpose:

K8 Mountaineering Club of Alberta exists to represent Filipino-Canadian and support hiking and climbing.

Our Vision:

Our vision is that Filipino-Canadian hikers and climbers will become more skilled, self-reliant and informed, that access will be improved, and that our mountain landscapes will be valued and protected. We aim to inspire, build rapport and camaraderie to all Filipino-Canadian who engage in hiking and climbing throughout the province of Alberta, and encourage adventure and exploration in the mountains of the world.

Another amazing day in the mountains with K8 Family!

Today was extra special as we welcomed not only our members but also K8 Misis (spouses/partners), Visitors and Kids to join us for our Intro to Via Ferrata.

It’s great to introduce kids to the outdoors at a young age and help them build confidence, resilience, and an appreciation for nature. Seeing families enjoy the mountains together reminds us that these experiences are about more than just the climb, they’re about creating lasting memories and inspiring the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

A huge thank you to our K8 officers and experienced K8 members who helped support and encourage our newer climbers throughout the day. Your guidance and teamwork make these adventures possible.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who joined us. It was wonderful to see families, friends, and K8 members sharing the day, challenging themselves, and enjoying the outdoors together.

Thanks everyone who came out to our K8 Misis Hike Last May 30th.

The weather cooperated just enough for us to enjoy a great hike, good conversations, and an awesome potluck afterwards. It was wonderful seeing everyone come together, spend time outdoors, and support one another in a welcoming and relaxed environment.

A big thank you to everyone who joined, brought food, helped out, and made the day a success. We’re excited to continue creating more opportunities like this for our community.

Looking forward to the next adventure with the K8 Fam! ❤️

K8’s Oath Taking Ceremony.

Yesterday, we proudly witnessed a new chapter for the K8 Mountaineering Club of Alberta as our newly elected officers took their oath. With honor and commitment, they accepted the responsibility to lead, serve, and uphold the values of our club.

This moment is more than just a ceremony, it’s a promise of unity, leadership, and passion for the mountains and the community we’ve built together.

To our new set of officers, congratulations! May you lead with strength, integrity, and heart.

Great day out in Kananaskis last Saturday with the K8 team for an ice climbing session. Perfect weather, solid ice, and an awesome group of people. It was a great day of training, learning, and sharing the experience in the mountains together.

Grateful for the strong community and teamwork that makes days like this possible. Looking forward to more climbs with the K8!

Huge congratulations to our entire K8 Team for successfully completing the multi-pitch ice climb at Evan Thomas, Alberta. Seeing our newer members push themselves and give it their all was truly inspiring. It was an incredible display of teamwork, determination, and support for each other. With a big group of 10 climbers, it wasn’t easy, but we worked together and made it happen. Huge shout out to our operations team for their meticulous planning and logistics, you guys rock and ice! Proud of everyone for their efforts and commitment. What an amazing day!

We had an amazing day out at Fish Creek Provincial Park! Our ice climbing clinic for kids was a huge success, and we’re happy to see the next generation of climbers having so much fun. We made sure to keep them warm and cozy with hot chocolate and a cozy ice fishing tent. Special thanks to the Fish Creek Provincial Park ranger for their support and guidance. We appreciate the opportunity and share the beauty of the park with our young climbers. Thanks also to our operations team, we were able to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We’re so proud to be introducing kids to the world of ice climbing and can’t wait to see them continue to explore and love the sport!
