Some of our Cubs and Scouts spent a fantastic day giving back to one of our absolute favourite spots—Camp Valaqua! 

Our crew rolled up their sleeves and put in some serious work to get the camp prepped for the cold months ahead:
🛻 Heavy hauling: Loaded and unloaded 8 full truckloads of logs felled by our chainsaws-wielding Scouters.
🪓 Winter prep: Split, hauled, and stacked literal mountains of firewood to keep camp cabins warm all winter long.
🌲 Teamwork in the woods: Big thanks to the youth and Scouters who put in the sweat equity to help keep this camp running strong!

The best part of all that hard work? We’ll be right back here in January for a full weekend campout—and you better believe that winter campfire is going to be epic. 🔥❄️

Pack your gear, you must! Final mission briefing for Linking Camp 🌌⛺️

The weekend is almost here, and we’re getting ready for launch! Before you head out, do a quick gear check so you don’t end up freezing like Han in carbonite:
🧥 Warm layers & rain gear: Outdoor climates can turn into Hoth or Dagobah in minutes—bring plenty of warm clothes and waterproof layers!
🥾 Waterproof footwear: Keep your feet dry on the trail; soggy boots lead to the Dark Side.
🧶 Toque for sleeping: Critical for retaining heat in your sleeping bag overnight.
🎒 Bags: Duffle bags or backpacks only. Rolling suitcases do not belong on forest terrain—leave the wheeled luggage at home!

Pack well, younglings and Jedi Knights—this is the Way! 🌲🔥

One of our Scout troops held our official investiture ceremony last night! Making the Scout Promise and receiving your woggle is a proud moment, and we are thrilled to welcome our newest Scouts into the fold.

Congratulations are also in order for the youth taking on new leadership roles this year:
🧭 Patrol Leaders & Assistant Patrol Leaders: Receiving their leadership woggles and stepping up to guide their patrols.
⚡️ Troop Leaders: Earning their woggles and taking on the big responsibility of keeping our troop youth-led and moving forward!

A warm welcome as well to Scouter Angel, who is joining the troop to help mentor and guide our youth along the way!

We are proud of each and every one of you for committing to the Promise and stepping up to lead. The adventure is just getting started! 🔥⛺️

New woggles, fresh promises, and plenty of adventures to come! 🐺✨

Big night for our pack as we officially invested our newest Cubs! Taking that promise and earning your woggle is a huge milestone, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome these enthusiastic new faces into the pack.

Meanwhile, our Scouts took team building to the next level with an evening of communication games 🗣️🎯

It’s coming! Our first big all-section campout is September 26–27! Prep those lightsabers

From our youngest Beavers and Cubs all the way up through our Scouts and Venturers and Rovers, everyone is heading out together for an awesome weekend in the woods.

Deep underground adventures! 🦇🪨 Our Scouts tackled a wild caving expedition last weekend with Canmore Cave Tours . The Scouts headed to Rat’s Nest Cave, a 4 km limestone labyrinth deep under Grotto Mountain. The day started with a serious uphill slog—gaining 180 m of elevation just to reach the entrance—but once the Scouts were inside, the real challenge began. Navigating tight crevices and squeezing through narrow passages was definitely not for the faint of heart, but the Scouts were up for it! 🧗‍♂️🔦

The Scouts descended 55 m into the earth and showed so much grit, climbing and scrambling their way through. They ended the day exhausted but super proud. Way to go, Troop! 💪✨

Huge shoutout to one of our incredible senior youth! ⚜️ For his Chief Scout’s Award project, he hit the ground running at the SCA Community Centre’s Neighbour Day and Stampede Breakfast to share the magic of Scouting with local families.

If you were there, you definitely couldn’t miss him—he was the one surrounded by crowds of kids eager to try their hand at knot-tying! 🪢 He even got a special visit from some Calgary Stampede celebrities! 🤠🐎

We are so proud of his leadership and dedication to growing our Scouting family. We can’t wait to see some of those enthusiastic new faces joining our Colonies, Packs, and Troops this coming fall! 🪵🏕️
