IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE SENIORS!

This Seniors Month, we’re inviting our communities to explore aging differently.

When you add something new to AGE — confidence, connection, movement — life evolves in powerful ways.

Our first theme is CourAGE- the spark that pushes us to try something new in our own way. CourAGE is Roy Allen, who at 100 years old set a world record in the 5K at Tamarack Race Weekend all while raising funds for local charities. His story is a wonderful reminder that aging isn’t a limit; it’s a landscape of possibility.

Across Ontario, Older Adult Centres, clubs and SALCS along with our partners are creating spaces where older adults move, learn, explore, and belong.

See age differently.
Explore aging differently.

Members Monday-
We absolutely love seeing our member centres join forces — and this Seniors Month collaboration is such a standout example of what happens when communities come together.

The Town of Oakville, Milton Seniors Centre, and Burlington Seniors Centre are teaming up for a special private screening of Silver Screamers, complete with a Q&A with Director Sean Cisterna. This kind of creative, cross-centre partnership is exactly what Seniors Month is all about: celebrating older adults, building connections, and showcasing the vibrant, modern programming happening across Ontario.

Thank you to our member centres for continuing to lead with innovation, collaboration, and heart.
We’re proud to support and spotlight events like this all month long.

If your centre is hosting something special for Seniors Month share it with us — we love amplifying your incredible work.

Silver Screamers is a heartwarming and spine-tingling documentary that follows a spirited group of senior citizens who set out to make a horror film, stepping far outside their comfort zones. Led by a local filmmaker, they navigate the challenges of low-budget movie-making with humour, heart, and re...

We’re happy to share this powerful example of healthy, active aging at every stage of life. Roy Allen, at 100 years old, is showing what’s possible when purpose, movement and community come together. As he works toward becoming the first centenarian to complete the 5K at Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, Roy is also giving back to the organizations that supported him and his family.
The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County is one of the beneficiaries of Roy’s fundraising efforts, alongside OACAO Members — The Council on Aging of Ottawa / Le Conseil sur le vieillissement d'Ottawa, Perley Healthand the Gloucester 50+ Centre.
Roy’s journey is a reminder that active living, connection and community support matter at every age. His story is featured in the May 15 edition of the Ottawa Citizen and the Ottawa Sun, Congrats Roy on this incredible milestone.
