It's Loneliness Awareness Week!

This week’s Age Differently word is VillAGE — a reminder that aging feels different when you’re surrounded by community.

Older Adult Centres and SALCs help reduce loneliness by offering welcoming spaces where belonging starts with showing up, and where connection grows through shared activities, friendships, and purpose.

Centres across Ontario continue to Do Aging Differently by making it easier to feel part of something.

We’re wrapping up the first week of Seniors Month by celebrating this year’s theme: Ontario Seniors – Let’s Get Moving!
It’s all about supporting older adults to stay active, engaged, and connected — something the OACAO and our member centres champion every single day.

We’re so proud of the amazing programs and services happening across our Senior Active Living Centres and Older Adult Centres that help seniors stay healthy, social, and involved in their communities.

We’re also so thrilled to continue partnering with the Ontario Seniors- Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility to bring Seniors Active Living Fairs to communities across Ontario. Last year this partnership helped deliver 104 Fairs, helping thousands of older adults and caregivers find supports and services close to home.

And we’re keeping the momentum going — our first Fair of the 2026 season takes place today!
Watch the OACAO website for monthly updates and upcoming Fair locations so you can find one near you.

IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE SENIORS!

This Seniors Month, we’re inviting our communities to explore aging differently.

When you add something new to AGE — confidence, connection, movement — life evolves in powerful ways.

Our first theme is CourAGE- the spark that pushes us to try something new in our own way. CourAGE is Roy Allen, who at 100 years old set a world record in the 5K at Tamarack Race Weekend all while raising funds for local charities. His story is a wonderful reminder that aging isn’t a limit; it’s a landscape of possibility.

Across Ontario, Older Adult Centres, clubs and SALCS along with our partners are creating spaces where older adults move, learn, explore, and belong.

See age differently.
Explore aging differently.
