Once again Caledon resident Tony Sevelka has published a rigorous objection to the planned Quarry affecting residents in and around the Hamlet of Cataract. It contains the following:

"Under TRESA, every property owner in the Hamlet would be required to disclose these environmental hazards, land-use constraints, and adverse effects in every future sale, lease, or transfer of their property. These disclosure obligations create permanent market stigma, reduce financing and resale viability, and further undermine the long-term viability of the Hamlet as a Minor Urban Centre. The risks introduced by the upstream water-transfer scheme, including its undisclosed operational terms, responsibilities, and duration, further compound these impacts and reinforce the conclusion that the Hamlet’s residential development potential cannot be protected."

Please call your elected representatives ASAP and support Tony in every way possible as he works to protect all of us. Please contact us at PitSense to obtain the full history and examples of Tony's efforts and his contact information.

What's got into the heads of our Town councilors who appear to be in favour of turning Swan Lake into a dumping ground. Did they not learn anything from the illegal excavation and contaminated dumping at the Olympia Pit?

Considering the Auditor General's recent scathing report this proposal should definitely be abandoned. When an aggregate operation is granted a license there is normally a clause requiring rehabilitation. Are these clauses ever enforced? Besides, the so-called 'clean fill' is rarely if ever clean. Just recall the violation that occurred at the Olympia pit in Caledon!
