🚒 VX TOOL PROGRAM – ROUND 3 CLOSED 🚒

Round 3 of the Alberta Fire Aid Society VX Tool Program is now officially closed.

We would like to thank every department that took the time to apply and share their operational needs with us. The applications highlighted the challenges many rural, volunteer, remote, and under-resourced departments continue to face when building and maintaining vehicle extrication capabilities.

We are pleased to announce that six fire departments across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan have been selected to receive rescue tool packages through this round of the program.

This initiative will help improve vehicle rescue capability, responder safety, and service delivery in the communities these departments protect.

Looking ahead, we anticipate reopening the application process for Round 4 later this summer once additional inventory has been processed and assessed.

⚡ Please note that Holmatro 240V Electric Dual-Port Pump packages remain available at this time. Departments interested in these systems are encouraged to contact Alberta Fire Aid Society, as applications for these specific setups can be submitted at any time.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Alberta Fire Aid Society through equipment donations, partnerships, and volunteer efforts.

Together we equip. Together we save lives.

🚒 Alberta Fire Aid Society – VX Tool Program Round 3 🚒

Applications for the Round 3 Vehicle Extrication (VX) Tool Program are now being accepted.

This program is intended to support fire departments looking to build, improve, or expand their vehicle extrication capability.

Priority consideration will be given to departments with no current rescue tool capability, however applications are also welcomed from departments seeking to:
• Upgrade aging equipment
• Add a second rescue tool complement
• Improve operational coverage and redundancy
• Expand rescue capability within their response area

Available equipment may include:
• Holmatro single port CORE hydraulic pumps w/ ram/combi
• Limited dual port 240v electric pump systems w 2 ram/ 2combi
• Select HURST full set extrication tool packages

We recognize that many rural, volunteer, remote, and under-resourced departments face significant financial barriers in acquiring modern rescue equipment. This program exists to help bridge that gap and improve rescue capability across Canada.

🗓 Application intake closes May 30, 2026.

Initial request / Application form please submit on our website.

The Alberta Fire Aid Society is proud to support another rural fire department with the donation of a complete vehicle extrication package to the Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department, located north of Prince George.

This donation will help strengthen the department’s emergency response capabilities and support firefighter training for motor vehicle rescue incidents in a remote area where resources can be limited and response times matter.

The Bear Lake department has been actively rebuilding and expanding its operational capabilities, including developing training programs for hydraulic extrication. We encourage everybody to learn more about their project and community efforts here:

https://association.blvfd.ca/projects/hydraulic.php

Volunteer fire departments across Canada continue to do incredible work protecting their communities with limited resources, and partnerships like this help ensure firefighters have access to modern life-saving equipment when seconds count.

Thank you to everybody involved in making this donation possible, and congratulations to the members of the Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department on this important addition to your department. 🚒💪

🚒 Round 3 – VX Tool Program Now Open

Alberta Fire Aid is opening Round 3 of the VX Tool Program for fire departments seeking to build, improve, or expand their vehicle extrication capabilities.

This program is intended to support departments that currently have no extrication tools, outdated equipment, or limited rescue capability in their response area.

While priority will be given to departments with no current tool capability and approvals in place to begin implementation, applications are also welcomed from departments looking to upgrade aging equipment or augment their current tool complement.

Available equipment is limited and may include:

• Holmatro CORE hydraulic pumps
• CORE combi tools
• CORE telescopic rams
• CORE hoses and accessories
• Limited electric pump options where available
• HURST vehicle extrication tool sets. Dual line single port system.
• Holmatro 2 port 240v pump system available

Approved departments will be responsible for coordinating pickup or freight arrangements.

Priority consideration will be based on demonstrated operational need, readiness to place the tools in service, and ability to train members on safe use and maintenance.

Great work by Lemberg and District Volunteer Fire Brigade and everyone involved. This is exactly what the Alberta Fire Aid Society is about — getting the right tools into the hands of firefighters and backing it up with real, hands-on training.

Appreciate the local partners who stepped up with vehicles and support. That’s what makes these weekends work.

This kind of training directly translates to better outcomes on the highway when it matters most. Stay safe out there and keep building it.

👏 Donor Recognition

A big thank you to Total Trenchless Ltd for stepping up with this donation of wildland backpack pumps.

This is exactly the kind of timely, field-proven equipment that makes a real difference for departments dealing with grass and brush fire response. Gear like this doesn’t sit on a shelf, it gets used, and it fills a very specific operational gap.

We appreciate the support and partnership in helping get practical tools into the hands of crews who need them most.

🚒 Tools in Action – Nova Scotia 🇨🇦🏴

We recently received these photos from the Italy Cross Fire Department in Nova Scotia after they began training with their vehicle extrication tools.

It’s always good to see equipment being put to work — members training together, getting reps in, and building capability before the real call comes.

This set made its way across the country with Day & Ross for just $338, which is a remarkable rate for moving equipment of this size and weight that distance.

We genuinely appreciate when departments send photos and testimonials back. Hearing how the tools are being used and how the program has supported their operations means a lot, and it helps demonstrate the real-world impact of getting this equipment into frontline service.

Round 3 will be launching soon with the remaining sets currently available.

More details to follow.
