Meet Redd!
He is a one-year-old sweetheart who is the definition of an easy-going, good boy! 🐾 He may be a little nervous when he first meets you, but give him just a few minutes to take everything in, and that sweet personality starts to shine through.

Redd loves dogs and cats and is a fantastic companion once he gets comfortable. He walks great on a leash, is crate trained, and is just an all-around wonderful dog.

Redd is available for adoption! Give him a little time, and he’ll give you a whole lot of love.

Sanctuary Spotlight 💙🫏

Meet Ernie! This sweet, gentle donkey came to Ferne’s Acres after an elderly lady who loved him could no longer care for him. Sadly, before he came into our care he had spent much of his life alone.

When Ernie first arrived at the sanctuary, he was incredibly depressed, you could see marks on his back from where he had let birds peck at him. Donkeys are very social animals, and Ernie desperately wanted companionship.

Thankfully, Ernie’s story didn’t end there. ❤️

With plenty of love, attention, and new friends, Ernie has truly flourished. He absolutely LOVES attention and will happily soak up every bit of love you’re willing to give him. These days, his best friends are the goats, he has even been known to crawl right into the goat shed to hang out with them and stay warm.

But while his goat friends are wonderful, we know Ernie would really benefit from having a donkey companion of his own. If there is anyone who is looking for a safe, loving home for their donkey, Ferne’s Acres would be happy to welcome them into Ernie’s life. We would love to give this social boy a companion who speaks his language.

Olly is one of our fierce guardians here at the sanctuary, always keeping a watchful eye over the other animals in her care. Recently, while doing what she does best—protecting her sanctuary family—Olly was badly attacked by coyotes, leaving her with serious wounds that required immediate veterinary attention.
Thankfully, the amazing veterinary technicians at our clinic were able to quickly tend to her injuries.

Now, Olly has a long road to recovery ahead of her, and we’re hoping she’ll be back on her feet and back to her important guardian duties soon.

Meet Juniper, aka Juni!
She was found all by herself after being left at a campground area north of Athabasca.

Thankfully, a park officer found her and made the two-hour-plus drive to bring this little girl to safety. Now, Juni is safe, cared for, and ready to find the loving forever home she deserves.
