Kluane Community Development LP Kluane Community Development Corporation (KCDC) works on behalf of Kluane First Nation (KFN) to create and develop KFN businesses.

The Kluane First Nation (KFN) is a First Nation in Yukon in Canada that has been addressing a number of economic priorities this past year. There are only four main industry sectors in the Kluane region that employ people: mining, construction, tourism, and government administration services. Most of these industries are seasonal and the core source of employment has been the Kluane First Nation G

overnment Administration. The mandate of KFN is to provide government services to its citizens and community members. This also includes economic development, infrastructure, and capacity building programs and services. KFN became a self-governing First Nation in September 2003 and since this time, KFN has taken a proactive role with providing new, sustainable economic initiatives that will give the community increased employment opportunities and improve the quality of life.

Dear Kluane Community Residents,

Please be advised that there will be no other burning of the Demolition Scrap Wood, Lumber, Brush or Logs at the Burwash Resort property this weekend.

We will resume on Monday with smaller burn piles.

To clear the air with concerns over the type of material that was burned, we KCDLP have invested over $200k into the safe and proper disposal of all hazardous building materials that have been taken off site and disposed of in Whitehorse with a contracted, bonded, certified for handling Hazardous Materials, Whitehorse based company. We only burned the wood. No metal, concrete, asbestos, lead, other toxic materials have been burned. Regardless, all of that demolition material is now burnt off now. We are left with brush and firewood. The metal and concrete will go to the Destruction Bay Waste Facility next.
