This song is so powerful and well worth the listen. To many, it speaks of dementia. For myself, it speaks to drug addiction. How many of us have touched the void, only to become lost to it? Those suffering from addiction eventually find themselves alone, as they forget about everything outside their need to chase the dragon. Behind every addict there is a story, a family, and a life that is forgotten. These folks don't need a safe supply of drugs...they need therapy. "The old me hides, while the new me fights. Look in my eyes. He's still in there, right? Did the kitchen change? What about your name? You used to be my heart, now you're just a face..." With help, we can all remember that which is most important...family, friends, and serving a higher purpose. A compassionate, patient reminder that comes from the heart is a great place to start . Today is International Firefighters Day, a day to show gratitude to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. Thank you to all the firefighters out there for your courage and dedication!
