Meet Grace - one of our talented residents and a featured artist in our upcoming exhibit, The Art of Staying Curious.

Grace joined a photography course led by the wonderfully patient and knowledgeable Ermin Badzak to learn how to take better photos with her phone.

From field trips to New Brighton Park, White Rock, and Burnaby Mountain to capturing a curious neighborhood cat, she discovered new ways to tell stories through photography.

Come say hello to Grace and our other resident artists, celebrate their stories, and discover where curiosity and lifelong learning can take you!

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF MOSAIC!

Congratulations to MOSAIC on 50 incredible years of supporting newcomers and building stronger, more inclusive communities across Canada!

At Seton Villa, we’re grateful for our partnership with MOSAIC and the opportunity to support newcomers in finding housing, building connections, and creating a sense of home and belonging.

We’re especially grateful to have benefited from MOSAIC’s SCOPE program, which connects racialized immigrants and newcomers with opportunities to meaningfully participate in their communities. This program has allowed us to connect with exceptional individuals who have brought their skills, expertise, lived experience, and diverse perspectives to our Volunteer Board of Directors - strengthening our governance and helping us better serve our residents and community.

Thank you, MOSAIC, for all you do and for being such a valued partner. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with you and look forward to continuing our work together to build welcoming, inclusive communities.

Congratulations on 50 year - and here’s to the next 50!

We were honoured to attend the Burnaby Men's Shed Open House today at Overlynn Mansion, and would like to extend our sincere thanks to Thomas, President of the Burnaby Men's Shed, for the warm invitation and hospitality.

It has been a pleasure building such a strong partnership together, and we're excited to see the positive impact the Burnaby Men's Shed continues to have in our community. The Burnaby Men's Shed (the first of its kind in Burnaby) provides a welcoming space where men can connect, share skills, work on meaningful projects, and support one another's mental health and well-being through friendship, purpose, and community involvement.

A special thank you to Mayor Mike Hurley for helping bring this incredible organization to Overlynn Mansion and the Seton Villa community by suggesting it as their new home - a wonderful example of the City's commitment to fostering community connections.

We'd also like to thank MLA Janet Routledge for her ongoing support and collaboration on community initiatives like this. Partnerships between local organizations, government, and community leaders are what make projects like the Men's Shed possible and successful.

A heartfelt thank you as well to our dedicated volunteer Board members, Zina Weston and Barbara Spitz, for taking the time to attend the Open House and for their continued commitment to supporting meaningful community partnerships like this. Your dedication and leadership help make opportunities like these possible.

We are grateful to be part of this journey and look forward to many more opportunities to work together, strengthen our community, and create positive change.

Thank you again to everyone who made this event such a success. Here's to many more wonderful things to come!

Meet Executive Chef Ryan Lee!

Born in Korea and professionally trained in Australia, Ryan has called Canada home for nearly 20 years. Throughout his career, he has worked in a variety of culinary settings, continuously refining his skills and learning from talented chefs along the way.

After years of working in large corporate environments, Ryan discovered a different kind of fulfillment when he transitioned into healthcare and senior living. What began as a career move quickly became a meaningful calling.

"For most of my career, I worked in organizations where the focus was primarily on business and profitability. When I joined Seton Villa, I realized my skills could have a much greater purpose. Food isn't just something we serve - it's part of someone's happiness, comfort, and quality of life.

Every day, I have the opportunity to create new menus and introduce residents to fresh culinary experiences; seeing their positive reactions is incredibly rewarding.

One of the most meaningful parts of my role is working alongside such an amazing team. I enjoy teaching new recipes, introducing new techniques, and helping my team continue to develop their skills. Watching them grow in confidence and seeing our kitchen improve together gives me just as much satisfaction as creating great food.

Knowing that we're making a positive difference in our residents' daily lives makes every day worthwhile. I'm grateful to be part of a team that shares the same passion, and I look forward to continuing to bring creativity, care, and memorable dining experiences to the seniors we serve." - Chef Ryan Lee

We're happy to share that our dining room is open for reservations! Family and friends are invited to enjoy the exceptional meals Ryan and his talented team create while sharing time with their loved ones. Please contact the Front Desk for more information or to reserve your spot.

A heartfelt thank you to Chef Ryan for the passion, creativity, and dedication he brings to our community every day. We are grateful for all that he does and are proud to have him as part of our community.

As we wrap up Men’s Health Month 2026, we're reflecting on the many ways Seton Villa supports the health and well-being of the men in our community.

This year's theme, "Partners in Care: Advancing Men's Health Through Connection, Education, and Advocacy Across the Lifespan – for Better Lifespans," reminds us that good health is built through meaningful relationships with family, friends, caregivers, and the community around us.

At Seton Villa, we foster those connections every day. From recreation programs designed specifically for our male residents to providing a meeting space for the Burnaby Men's Shed, we're proud to support opportunities that reduce isolation, encourage friendship, and promote healthy, active living.

The Burnaby Men's Shed is a welcoming, non-profit organization where men can learn new skills, discover new interests, and build lasting friendships. As they say:

"Joining our Men's Shed comes with countless benefits, from finding purpose to forging new connections. No specific skills are necessary - just a willingness to share your experiences through respect for other men in our community."

We thank the Burnaby Men's Shed for the important work they do in supporting men's health and creating a stronger, more connected community.
