Our members work at all public facilities in the city and are proud providers of a wide range of services to the residents of Burnaby, from lifeguards to garbage collectors, planners to librarians and everything in between. From our Constitution:
"This Local Union shall organize all workers within its jurisdiction, obtain and maintain continuous employment for its members, protect the integrity of the bargaining unit and endeavour to obtain and maintain just and reasonable working conditions and wages for all its members." Officers and Executive Board:
CUPE 23 has an Executive Board made up of 3 Table Officers and Officers elected from its 4 divisions. Each division elects a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and 2nd Vice Chairperson. We held our Annual Golf Tournament this past weekend at the beautiful Riverway Golf Course. We are immensely grateful for our sponsors and participants for joining forces to raise money for Local 23 scholarships and other charitable initiatives in Burnaby. Thank you to the staff at Riverway Golf Course and Riverway Clubhouse for the amazing service!

Donald Trump's aggression against Canada has reminded us just how overdependent we are on the United States.

It is reminding us of just how beholden we have become to the goodwill of their billionaire oligarchs. The answer to American billionaires is not Canadian billionaires.

Canada’s response cannot simply be “Buy Canadian.” The CEO of Loblaws is still going to be happy to price gouge you on maple syrup while wearing a maple leaf hat.

Canada’s response has to be about protecting the Canadian model. About strengthening public services. About protecting our communities. And building an economy that works for workers - first and foremost.

Thanks to all those Municipal crews salting and clearing excess snowfall. Make sure you give them a honk, wave and say thank you when you see them out there making our communities safe to drive in. Thanks to all those support staff like mechanics, building service workers and maintenance crews who are repairing, cleaning and salting rec center sidewalks!
