Construction, Maintenance & Allied Workers Canada - CMAW We are a diverse union of over 7000 members. We are the largest union representing construction workers in British Columbia, Canada's most westerly province.

We are a diverse union of over 7000 members including carpenters, carpenter apprentices, lathers, millwrights, floorlayers, piledrivers, industrial workers and many other construction trades and school board employees. We are the largest union representing construction workers in British Columbia, Canada's most westerly province. Every day we stand up for workers – both union and non-union -- in many occupations. We have offices in every region of BC and our officials are elected by members "off the tools" from some of BC's largest industries including construction, the public sector, forestry and manufacturing. We fight for workplace justice every day. Join us.

October is Women’s History Month.

Women have helped shape the skilled trades for generations, and their contributions continue to move our industry forward.

Across job sites, union halls and training centres, women bring knowledge, experience, leadership and skill to the work that keeps our communities growing.

This month, we recognize the women who challenged expectations, those who continue to create opportunities for others, and the next generation of tradeswomen finding their place in the industry.

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Wearing orange is a reminder that Every Child Matters and that reconciliation begins with listening, learning, remembering, and recognizing the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

We encourage our members to take time today to reflect, learn and honour those affected.

Today, we honour the legacy of Terry Fox. A true Canadian hero whose courage, determination, and hope inspires us all.

As we recognize Terry Fox Day, let's remember that every step forward, no matter how small, can make a lasting difference. Together, we can continue his dream of a world without cancer.

September is Recovery Month. It’s a time to recognize the challenges many people face with addiction, mental health, and the road to recovery.

We know people from all walks of life can face difficult and complex challenges, and sometimes the right support can make all the difference. Through the CMAW Benefits Plan, members have access to support, resources, and services designed to help them and their families through difficult times.

Recovery can look different for everyone, but no one should have to face those challenges alone. This September, we encourage our members to look out for one another, reach out when help is needed, and remember that support is available.
