✨ Pancake Breakfast at Maywood School – A Morning of Holiday Joy! ✨🥞🎅🎄🎁

On Saturday, December 6, our volunteers from Rotary Burnaby joined the annual Pancake Breakfast at Maywood Community School on Imperial Street, Burnaby.

We enjoyed a festive morning filled with joy, community spirit, and holiday magic.

🎅 Santa Claus brought smiles and excitement to the kids.
🎶 Holiday music created the perfect cheerful atmosphere.
🥞 Warm pancakes were served with love to students and families.
🤝 Volunteers came together to spread kindness and Christmas joy.

Thank you to Maywood School for welcoming us and to every volunteer who helped make this celebration unforgettable. ❤️🎄

Next general meeting of the Rotaract Club of Burnaby to be held Tuesday, December 3rd, 7:00 pm, at the Burnaby Neighbourhood House. Speaker is Ann Ryu who will give a short presentation on the Neighbourhood House. Their Mission is to enable people to enhance their lives and strengthen their community. They work with our communities to develop innovative programs and services that meet the changing needs of a diverse population.

Rotaract Club of Burnaby meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday October 15th at 7:00 pm (the executive meeting is at 6:30 pm) at the Burnaby Neighbourhood House located at: 4460 Beresford St., Burnaby. We meet on the third floor. If the door is locked, please phone or text the phone number on the door

As we check at opportunities and needs for service projects in Burnaby, we are inviting service providers to speak on the service that they provide.

The speaker for this meeting is Greg and his colleague from Blanket BC.

Since collecting 67 blankets on their first blanket drive, Blanket BC has grown into an incorporated charity and has been able to distribute nearly 700,000 blankets by 2023! There are well over 165 shelter programs throughout British Columbia that Blanket BC has delivered to over the years. We've also been able to send over 20,000 blankets and warm clothing to far off places like the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan back in 2013, Zimbabwe & Mozambique Africa after Cyclone Adai in 2019 and earlier in 2023 to families in Ukraine. Every third week of November, Blanket BC Society runs their annual “Drive on the Line Campaign". This incredibly large two-day-long Blanket Drive set along the Canada Line that runs from Waterfront Station to Richmond has helped in the collection of over 105,000 blankets and over 75,000 articles of warm clothing to date! It's as far as we know, the largest blanket drive in North America!
