Progressive Housing Society is a non-profit organization. Our Homeless Outreach helps Burnaby residents by:

-Engage with unsheltered individuals dealing with homelessness and provide support services to help stabilize lives.

-Connect with individuals with no income, including making and going with individuals to appointments to seek income.

-Assist individuals to locate a rental unit, apply to

social housing, and set up new home with furniture.

-Provide follow-up support that ensures individuals have effectively transitioned to housing and are receiving appropriate health and social service programs and services.

-Provide support services to improve skills, personal health and hygiene, household management, financial management, crisis intervention and problem solving and provide follow-up related to these areas.

-Liaise with and refer to community agencies, groups, organizations and businesses

๐ŸŒบ Aloha, Burnaby! Last week's Mental Health BBQ brought our staff and clients together for a luau-themed celebration of connection, joy, and wellbeing. From backyard games and face painting to a colourful mocktail bar and raffle prizes, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Days like this remind us that healing happens in community, and that taking care of our mental health can also mean laughter, good food, and time together. Thank you to everyone who came out, and helped make it such a warm, welcoming afternoon.

We're grateful for this community and everyone in it. ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ’›

Meet Ranjeet, our chef at Ledger Place. Turns out cooking for community is about a lot more than just getting meals on the table.

He tells us abut his culinary history, getting started with Progressive Housing Society, and a heartfelt story about his impact with a client.

Whether it's a hot meal or a safe place to land, our teams show up in a lot of ways, big and small. This series is us introducing you to the people who make that happen.

Norland Place provides 52 individual homes in Burnaby, each with its own private bathroom and kitchenette. It's staffed 24/7, so support is always close by, but every unit is designed to feel like a home, not an institution.

For residents, having a door that locks and a kitchen to call their own makes a real difference. It's a foundation for stability, and a starting point for building the life skills and independence that come next.

Norland Place also includes onsite harm reduction supports and overdose prevention, so residents can access help without barriers. It's open to all genders, all ethnicities, accessible to all. And it's pet friendly, because no one should have to choose between housing and family.

Norland Place was built in partnership with BC Housing and the City of Burnaby.

Pride is about celebration, but it's also about making sure everyone has a place where they can simply be themselves.

At Progressive Housing Society, that commitment shows up in the everyday details of our work. It's in how our staff greet every person who walks through our doors. It's in the housing and support we provide, built around who someone is and what they need, not around assumptions. It's in the small moments of respect that add up to someone feeling like they belong.

Everyone we support deserves a place that feels safe, welcoming, and free of judgment. That's true in our housing programs, our shelters, and everywhere our team shows up in the community.

This Pride, we're reaffirming that commitment. Safety isn't just physical. It's feeling seen, respected, and valued for who you are. Happy Pride, from all of us at PHS. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

We are pleased to introduce the new Holly House! Since the 1980s, Holly House has been part of PHS's story, one of our first homes purchased to support people building stability in Burnaby. In 2026, that story continued with a full redevelopment. What was once a single 5-bedroom home is now 14 units across two fully accessible buildings, offering supported housing for clients at risk of homelessness who benefit from added mental health and physical health care.

Each building includes accessible co-living suites with elevator access. Residents have access to a 24-hour emergency response system and climate control built for BC's extremes, so no one has to face a heat wave or a cold snap without support.

Holly House sits just steps from the a Community Centre, a library branch, and transit, keeping residents connected to the community around them.

Forty years after those first doors opened, Holly House stands as a reminder that home is something we can always rebuild, together.

Introducing Holly House's Independent Living suites. Yesterday, we shared a virtual tour of the Assisted Living space for Progressive Housing Society's new Holly House program which brings together Assisted Living for 10 people and two, two-bedroom Independent Living suites.

We're very excited to open the doors to these beautiful new homes, which replace a five-bedroom program house on property PHS has owned for more than 45 years. Tripling the site's capacity enables us to help many more people build healthy, stable lives.

Introducing Holly House! To help us triple the number of people we can help onsite, PHS redeveloped a Burnaby property we've owned for more than 45 years. Located in Burnaby's Edmonds neighbourhood, Holly House spans two homes, together offering 10 private bedrooms across our fully accessible Assisted Living spaces and two Independent Living suites, which offer residents access to supports as needed.

We invite you to explore our Assisted Living space through this virtual tour. Be sure to check back tomorrow for a tour of one of Holly House's Independent Living suites.

Shelter and housing are important year-round, but never more so than in the cold months of winter. It may be summer now, but we are already planning for vital winter supports.
