L'Arche Greater Vancouver is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating homes and day programs in which people with and without developmental disabilities live, work and discover faith together. With over 40 years of experience in fostering inclusion, understanding and belonging, L'Arche is committed to the physical, spiritual and emotional growth of men and women living in our homes and those sharing their lives with each other.

Meet another pair of artists from this year’s art show: Sarah and her dad, Dan.

Remember to come join us next Saturday and see their work in person!

For their piece, Sarah imagined a walk with her whole family. There’s lots of her favourite colour, along with little details that tell the family’s story - a butterfly for her grandparents, and footprints for her mum and dad walking alongside her.

We love how something as simple as a walk can hold so many people and memories.

Meet the artists behind this year’s Art Show.

Celine and Niall have shared more than 20 years of life in the L’Arche community. Celine has been a valued member of our team, while Niall has spent those years as part of our Neighbours Helping Neighbours program. Along the way, they’ve formed a beautiful friendship - and now, they’re creating art together. As a theatre artist and filmmaker, Niall brings his creative eye to their collaboration.

For their painting, they explored what it means to “Walk with Me” through NHN - being there for a neighbour. Niall is pictured mowing the lawn, one of the many ways he has lent a hand over the years.

Meet the artists behind this year’s art show.

When Alex and Mary began creating their painting around the theme “Walk with Me,” Mary started thinking about the walks they have taken together - the crossroads, the stop signs, and the moments of looking out for one another along the way.

Their painting became a portrait of Mary, honouring her journey and the many ways she has moved through the world with independence and confidence.

Mary has shared many of her paintings at our art shows over the years. Alex, a Day Program team member and professionally trained artist, brings his creativity and experience to their collaboration.

Their artwork is a beautiful reminder that every walk has a story, and every friendship has a journey.

The courtyard was full of good food and music from around the world, and even better company this week as we gathered for our Annual International Potluck.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our beloved community member, Monika Wachowski, passed away peacefully last night at 12:49am, at Burnaby Hospital.

Monika touched the lives of many with her beautiful smile, gentle spirit, and unique presence in our community. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and caring for her.

We invite all community members, friends, staffs and old staffs to join us as we gather to remember and celebrate Monika's life.

Memorial Gathering
Date: Monday, July 20
Time: 2:30pm.
Location: Big Living Room, L'Arche Greater Vancouver

This will be a time to share memories, offer prayers, and support one another as we honour Monika's life and the joy she brought to our community.

We were excited to co-host a Connection Night last week with Curiko - a relaxed evening to mingle, connect, and socialize with a wonderful group of people.
