🎉Gardening To Go Project Completion! On January 27, 2026 we did the youth celebration. In celebration of the work done, what was learned, achieved and the completion of Gardening To Go!

We are excited to continue doing similar projects as Gardening To Go.

We are grateful to our funder, the Ocean Action Grant, and to our dedicated youths Veronica Garcia Padilla (project management), Ozlem Bayatli (logistic cordinator),and Sofia Alcantara (partners outreach); along with the senior youths from École Cariboo Hill Secondary School and the junior youths of Second Street Community School.

Their generosity made possible a vibrant intergenerational gardening project, fostering connections between youth and seniors.
The project also supports food access, reduces plastic use, and combats isolation in our community.
Together, they have created a space where learning, sharing, and care thrive.
We celebrate their collaboration and the lasting impact on our community.

Until the plants were delivered to the seniors we took care of them by using Grow lights. This lights allow plants to grow and be harvested and make it possible for inside garderdening practices. Perfect for mini-gardens at home.

Gardening To Go! A youth-led climate and social justice initiative. Empowering youth while fostering connections with seniors through gardening ✨

🌱The project brought together youth and seniors through the creation and delivery of eco-friendly mini-gardens, including herbs and flowers planted in sustainable containers suitable for indoor or balcony spaces.

Many seniors in our community live in apartments without access to green space and often survive on fixed incomes, making gardening and climate-friendly practices difficult to access. Gardening To Go addressed this gap by providing seniors with free mini-gardens that promote food security, emotional well-being, and connection to nature.
