SFU Science ALIVE We offer summer camps, weekend clubs, online workshops and resources for teachers.

Science AL!VE engages youth in hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & design, Mathematics) programs to build measurable skills and improve self-confidence. Aligned with SFU Faculty of Applied Sciences’ mandate, we aim to dispel stereotypes in the field of science and engineering and work towards achieving diversity and inclusion. We work to empower those traditionally underreprese

nted groups in STEAM by developing barrier-free programs for girls, under-served youth and Indigenous communities.

Happy September, everyone! 🍂🧸🥐☕🍪

School’s back - and so are our high school programs!

🤖 Exploring AI is a new 7-week workshop series, where you’ll get to explore more about artificial intelligence, while also learning more about coding. We recommend having some experience in text-based coding before joining.

🎙️STEM Speaker Series is returning, with a talk by science communicator and PhD candidate, Katherine Rabik. Sign up to learn about her journey from studying the Earth as a geological engineer, to teaching kids in classrooms, to now exploring how best to communicate scientific research.

Both are kicking off on September 20th, so there’s still time to register!

High school programs are mostly on summer break this month - but we will hopefully see a few of you!

Next week, our summer camp Invent the Future will be starting! We’ll be focusing on all things AI - it’ll be a fun-filled week of coding, creativity, and big ideas! ☀️🤖🧠💻🏕️ (ps. there are still spots open for our second week)
