This campaign isn’t just powered by donations – it’s powered by people. ❤️

Thank you to the dedicated Empire Family of Brands employees, generous customers, and inspiring Special Olympics athletes, volunteers, and families visiting stores across Canada to cheer on the movement.

Because of you, this campaign is more than a fundraiser – it’s a nationwide celebration of inclusion, community, and personal bests.

Thank you for creating opportunities for athletes like Sebastian to achieve their personal best! Sebastian is a Special Olympics World Games medallist in cross country skiing, a Special Olympics Team BC 2026 athlete in swimming, and a proud IGA West employee in Golden.

“Special Olympics has grown my world. I have met many people and experienced things that I never would have.”

And there’s still time to support athletes like Sebastian!

Now through June 21, say “YES” to making a donation at checkout at your local Safeway Canada, Thrifty Foods, and select IGA West locations. Your gift will be matched by Empire Family of Brands up to $500,000 – amplifying your impact for athletes across the country.

From big hits and home runs to teamwork, determination, and unforgettable moments, our softball athletes show the spirit of sport every time they step onto the field.

"My favourite Special Olympics experience to date is when I or my team mates have a home run and we celebrate each one." –Donald Pruger, Special Olympics Team BC softball athlete

Today, we recognize the passion, friendship, and joy that make softball so special. Thank you to our athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who help create these moments every season.

Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

Today, we’re celebrating more than just a sweet treat – we’re celebrating the incredible impact of the Special Olympics Donut at Tim Hortons campaign. ❤️

When you picked up a Special Olympics Donut between January 30 and February 1, 2026, 100% of proceeds went directly toward supporting Special Olympics athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Canada. Every donut helped create more opportunities for them to participate in sport, discover new strengths, and build a more inclusive community. 💪

Because of your support, $1.3 million was raised nationwide in 2026, fueling programs and opportunities for athletes from coast to coast. 🤩

A heartfelt thank you to Tim Hortons, their restaurant owners, team members, and guests for continuing to champion inclusion in such a meaningful way. And a special shoutout to the Special Olympics athletes and champions across B.C. who showed up with pride, energy, and joy in hundreds of restaurants. 🙌

Moments like these remind us of what’s possible when we ! ❤️

The 2026 Auction for Athletes, held April 14 to 17, brought together supporters from across British Columbia and raised over $250,000 in support of Special Olympics BC and the New Car Dealers Association of BC. 🙌

Powered by the incredible generosity of the community, donors, sponsors, and bidders, this year’s auction will help fuel year-round sport, youth, and health programs for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the province. The funds will also support automotive industry grants and scholarships through the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC. 🤩

“Being part of Special Olympics can give you a real sense of community and being included, and this is very rewarding and meaningful.” –Patrik Lowe (far left), SOBC – Campbell River athlete

Funds raised will help open doors for athletes to access high-quality training, meaningful competition, and opportunities to shine on the national stage. As a member of the Special Olympics Team BC training squad, Patrik is preparing for bocce competition at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat this August. 💪

Thank you to everyone who made the 2026 Auction for Athletes a success. Your support continues to change lives! ❤️
