The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program aims to honour the spirit of Terry Fox, one of Canada’s greatest heroes, by encouraging Canadian youth who strive to emulate Terry Fox’s courage and determination by providing their communities and those in need with humanitarian service.

Last week on Parliament Hill, we proudly celebrated our 2026 award recipients and graduating scholars.

From healthcare and climate action to food security, mental health, inclusive sport, and education access, these young leaders are already creating meaningful change in communities across Canada – with a few memorable Parliament photo ops along the way.

Through compassion, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others, they continue to carry Terry Fox’s spirit forward.

La semaine passée, sur la Colline du Parlement, on a fièrement célébré nos récipiendaires 2026 ainsi que nos boursiers et boursières qui terminent leur parcours.

Qu’il s’agisse de santé, d’action climatique, de sécurité alimentaire, de santé mentale, de sport inclusif ou d’accès à l’éducation, ces jeunes leaders créent déjà des changements concrets dans des communautés partout au Canada — avec, en prime, quelques séances photo mémorables au Parlement.

Grâce à leur compassion, leur résilience et leur profond engagement envers les autres, ils et elles continuent de faire vivre l’esprit de Terry Fox.

We’re proud to celebrate Terry Fox Humanitarian Award alumna Bailey Oleksyn and the incredible impact she continues to make. 💙

Since receiving our award, Bailey has become a speech-language pathologist and authored How Beautiful Our Brains Can Be – a children’s book that champions neurodiversity, empathy, and inclusion.

Through her work, she’s helping young people better understand and celebrate differences, while giving back to the community with every book sold. How beautiful is that? 🌟

It was a special pleasure to meet with Minister Mike Farnworth, MLA for , the community where Terry Fox resided from the age of 10 until his passing in 1981. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss how the Program can grow to support more exceptional young British Columbians who will carry on Terry’s legacy of service, compassion, and civic engagement.

Ce fut un réel plaisir de rencontrer le ministre Mike Farnworth, député de , la communauté où Terry Fox a vécu de l’âge de 10 ans jusqu’à son décès en 1981.
