This week, BC Food & Beverage’s COO, Alisa Hutton had the opportunity to participate in the 'National Workforce Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Food & Beverage Manufacturing Summit' in Calgary, AB.
The event, focused on strengthening labour supply, skills, and workplace culture across the agri-food system, brought together leaders from agriculture, food and beverage manufacturing, and related organizations.
Alisa attended the event alongside Kristina Farrell (Food and Beverage Canada) and HR leaders from BC, Brenda McLaren (Sunrise Soya Foods), Ivy Leong (Fresh Direct Produce Ltd.), Georgina Boyne (Northam Beverages) and Gina Softly (Vitalus Nutrition Inc).
Workforce challenges, from labour shortages, immigration, skills development, attracting the next generation and more, remain a major issue for food and beverage manufacturers.
BC Food & Beverage is committed to being part of the solution. We look forward to helping shape a national workforce strategy that reflects our industry's realities and builds a stronger, more resilient talent pipeline.
