A wonderful afternoon was spent celebrating the dedication, achievements, and new beginnings of DC38 members at this year’s Retirees & Awards Recognition Luncheon.

Congratulations to all those honoured for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments. Special recognition goes to George Baumann for an incredible 73 years of union membership, Anthony Emmott for earning the highest mark on the 2025 Glaziers IP Exam, and Nicholas Gaustchi, recipient of the James Clark Award, for achieving the highest mark on the 2025 Painter & Decorator Exam. We were also proud to recognize our newest journey persons, initiations and years of service pin recipients.

Thank you to everyone who continues to inspire, strengthen, and support our union. Together, we honour the past, celebrate the present, and build a strong future for the generations to come.

DC38 proudly kicked off the first “One Union, One Family, One Fight – Building Union Power” campaign in BC. This campaign is about reconnecting our membership, rebuilding solidarity, and strengthening the collective power that generations of union members fought to achieve. Through education, engagement, and action, we are recommitting ourselves to the values that make our union strong: unity, democracy, and fighting for better wages, safer working conditions, and stronger contracts for every member.

We were proud to join General Vice President Simon Hazelwood and IUPAT leadership in launching this important movement to inspire the next generation of activists and re-engage our members from the ground up. When we stand together as ONE UNION and ONE FAMILY, there is no fight we cannot take on and WIN.

Be on the lookout for upcoming Union Power campaign meetings and events happening with DC38. We’ll be announcing dates soon, so don’t miss your chance to get involved, sign the pledge, and help build the future of our union. This movement belongs to all of us.

We’re just getting started, let’s keep building momentum and union power together.

Events like this are a powerful reminder that fostering women’s leadership is not just beneficial, it is essential for the future of our industry.

A heartfelt thank-you to the organizers, facilitators, and all the incredible tradeswomen whose dedication, knowledge, and leadership continue to drive our industry forward. We were truly honored to be part of such a meaningful day.
