CALL FOR PERFORMER-CREATORS

A Five-Week Paid Artistic Research Residency ($6000)

I'm thrilled to announce an open call for 3 Performer-Creators to join a new Deaf-led research and development project exploring the intersection of Platform Theatre and Vertical Dance in Performance.

This five-week residency investigates new approaches to theatre creation by combining physical storytelling, ensemble devising, and harness-based performance in collaboration with at . Together, we'll create an original work through collaborative research before exploring how it transforms when translated into vertical space

Our long-term vision is to develop this research into a world premiere Deaf-led production

November 9 – December 11, 2026

Weeks 1–2
Inside Out Theatre Studio (Calgary)

Develop an original Platform Theatre work through collaborative devising, physical storytelling, and ensemble creation.

Weeks 3–5
DJD Dance Centre Creative Residency (Calgary)

Translate the work into vertical performance through harness-based exploration in collaboration with Julia Taffe and the Aeriosa team.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Both Deaf and hearing artists are encouraged to apply.

We're seeking collaborative Performer-Creators who are excited to devise an original work from the ground up.

Experience in physical theatre and devised theatre creation is a strong asset.

No previous aerial or harness experience is required.

ASL/English interpretation is confirmed for the residency.

Application Deadline: August 16, 2026

Applicants must be available for the full five-week residency (November 9 – December 11, 2026). Due to the collaborative devising process, participants are expected to commit to the entire research period. Send your video portfolios to [email protected] or click for email in my bio
