Shared Living

Shared Living What is Shared Living? Shared Living is a residential option in which an adult with a developmental disability can choose to live.

Shared Living is an option for people with developmental disabilities, who choose to live
with caregivers in a family home, or with roommates in their community. In this model, the person with a developmental disability shares a home with a caregiver(s) who is screened, interviewed and contracted to provide ongoing support to the individual. The caregiver can be contracted either by a community ba

sed agency, such as, posAbilties, or directly by CLBC. Homes may be owned, rented or leased by the caregiver or by the individual requiring support. In some situations, the individual may move in with an entire family and in other situations they may move in with a couple or just one person. There are many different types of homes and varying degrees of support that are both needed and offered. Shared Living is an initiative of posAbilities Association of BC. http://www.posabilities.ca/
