Collective bargaining without the right to strike is just collective begging.

The government is proposing new powers to end legal strikes and force workers back to work.

That takes away one of the most powerful tools workers have to win better wages, safer workplaces and a fair deal.

USW District 3 members joined Steelworkers from across the union at the 2026 USW Health Care Workers Council Conference, October 4–8 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Under the theme "Healing with Strength, Leading with Unity," delegates came together to share experiences supporting health care workers and the patients and communities they serve.

Steelworkers are on the ballot across B.C.! 🗳️

Municipal elections matter for working people, good union jobs and strong communities. We're proud to see Steelworkers stepping up and running for public office across the province!

Steelworkers on the ballot include:

Steelworkers are proud to stand with candidates who understand the importance of protecting and expanding good, unionized jobs in B.C.’s mining and resource sectors.

“We are proud to welcome the workers at A New Tomorrow Treatment Solutions to the Steelworkers family,” said Scott Lunny, USW Director for Western Canada. “These workers dedicate themselves to caring for others, often under challenging and stressful conditions. They deserve the same care and support in their own workplace.”

A New Tomorrow provides treatment and recovery programs for youth and adults living with addiction. Social workers, counsellors, nurses, addiction workers, cooks and cleaners work together to provide the care, programming and support people need to stabilize and recover.

These workers are now members of USW Local 1-417.
