May 19 is BC Family Doctor Day — and today, we’re celebrating Burnaby’s family doctors and the care they provide every day!

Family doctors provide ongoing, comprehensive primary care over time. Many are responsible for patient panels of 1,200+ people, while also seeing dozens of patients a day, reviewing results, completing forms and referrals, and coordinating care with specialists, hospitals, allied health professionals, and community supports.

For patients, this is why continuity matters. When you have a family doctor, starting with them helps support more connected care, because they know your history and the bigger picture of your care. The Burnaby PCN works to strengthen these care connections, providing services that benefit patients and their primary care providers.

To Burnaby’s family doctors: thank you for the care you provide that we can see, and the work we don’t!

Don’t have a family doctor or a nurse practitioner? Join the Health Connect Registry to get matched with a provider. Burnaby is currently connecting close to 1,000 patients a month.

We are celebrating 10K referrals to PCN allied health services!👏👏👏

The Burnaby PCN has been providing free, low-barrier allied health services to community members since 2019. We hit a major milestone this fall, with 10,000 referrals from Burnaby family doctors and nurse practitioners!

Our wonderful Central Intake Team is always hard at work behind the scenes processing all these referrals, connecting people with care, and acting as a link between allied health clinicians and Burnaby primary care providers. Thank you to Georgiana Ioica, PCN Clinical Operations Lead, and Laura Liu, PCN Administrative Coordinator, for running Central Intake like a well-oiled machine, while never forgetting to put people first!

Thank you to our referring providers for your collaboration and commitment to team-based care! And thank you to the Burnaby community for trusting us to support your health and well-being!

Learn about our full collection of allied health services on burnabypcn.ca. Ask your doctor or nurse practitioner to see if you are eligible for our services.
