International Women’s Day is a reminder that progress is strongest when opportunity is shared.

Many of the families we support are led by women who carry extraordinary responsibilities — balancing caregiving, work, and the pursuit of stability for their children.

Supporting women through access to resources, financial inclusion, and community networks creates ripple effects that benefit generations.

On Monday, March 2nd, I’ll be joining a Halton housing advocacy call focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing our region — affordable housing.

The agenda is action-oriented:

• Mobilizing residents to attend public and council meetings in support of affordable housing developments
• Ensuring housing remains a central issue in the upcoming fall municipal elections
• Expanding public education so more people understand that housing is not optional — it is foundational to dignity, stability, and opportunity

Housing is directly linked to financial security, employment stability, mental health, and community well-being. When families cannot secure stable housing, every other support system is strained.

We cannot treat housing as a secondary issue. It must be a priority in policy, planning, and public discourse.

Advocacy requires participation. Participation drives change.
