It was a real pleasure to meet with Effie Triantafilopoulos, MPP for Oakville North–Burlington and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, at her constituency office yesterday.

We had a great discussion about the importance of Ontario's RV and Camping Industry, its significant contributions to our provincial economy, and some of the challenges currently facing our industry

In a news release issued yesterday, General Coach Canada announced its acquisition of the Prolite brand, bringing together two proud Canadian names in RV manufacturing.

As part of the acquisition, production of Prolite travel trailers will transition from Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, to General Coach Canada’s manufacturing operations in Hensall, Ontario. Manufacturing in Hensall is expected to begin by the end of November 2026.

Congratulations to Roger, Chris, and the General Coach Canada team on their acquisition and we wish you much continued success!

While in Elkhart for RV Open House Week, we had the chance to visit Truma North America Head Office where we met with President and CEO Mark Howlett and John DiPietro from the RV LIFE Podcast.

Mark gave us a tour of their temperature chamber, where they test RV heating and cooling systems in an actual unit.

It was impressive to see the work that Truma does to make consumers comfortable in either hot or cold outside temperatures.

It was a pleasure to stop by and see Ember RV yesterday during RV Open House Week.

Their display was set up as a campsite with their new RV models set up the way they’re meant to be enjoyed right outside their head office in Bristol, Indiana.

RV Open House is an annual event when RV Manufacturers and Suppliers introduce new models and products for dealers across North America to bring to consumers.

Always great for the chance to visit with CRVA Members and industry partners!

Last week marked the retirement of a great friend of the CRVA and the Canadian RV industry, Brad Harvey, following an incredible 50 years in the RV business.

Brad began his career with Dometic in March 1976 and, over the five decades that followed, became a familiar and respected face throughout our industry.

Brad’s history with CRVA goes back a long way. He was first elected to the CRVA Board of Directors in 1987 and served on the Board at various times over the past 4 decades, including as President of the Association, before completing his final term in 2025.

The photo below is a great piece of CRVA history that Brad recently shared with us. Taken in the early 1990s, it shows Brad presenting a CRVA plaque to Arnold Kostiner of Bonair at his office in Montreal. It’s a wonderful reminder of just how much history Brad has witnessed — and been part of — throughout his career.

On behalf of the CRVA Board of Directors and our members across Canada, thank you, Brad, for your friendship, your commitment, and everything you have contributed to our Association and the Canadian RV industry.

We saw the original post and this follow-up from our good friends from Nova Scotia. We love this and agree 💯!

A little follow-up to a post that certainly got more attention than we ever expected...

A few days ago, we shared a photo of visitors from Michigan who posted that they were heading to Halifax wearing their "Lake America" sweatshirts. It was apparently intended as a joke.

However, judging by the reaction, including more than 160,000 views of our post and over 900 comments, it's probably fair to say that a lot of Canadians didn't find it particularly funny, including us.

We have since seen an apology from one of the ladies in the photo, acknowledging that the post didn't come across as intended. We appreciate that. But we also wanted to explain why we chose to respond the way we did.

Canada and the United States have been neighbours, friends and allies for generations. Our families cross the border. We vacation in each other's countries. We do business together. And when one of us has needed the other, more often than not, we've been there.

Somewhere along the way lately, things have become a little more complicated. And, like a lot of Canadians, we're sometimes left wondering how we got here.

But we don't think the answer is more anger.

We think it's kindness. Conversation. A little understanding. And maybe occasionally being willing to listen to why something that seems funny on one side of the border might not feel quite as funny on the other.

That's why our message to our American visitors wasn't "go home." It was...

"Welcome to Nova Scotia. Come meet us. Enjoy our province. Have some lobster. Experience our hospitality. And maybe we'll understand each other a little better when it's all over"

We archived our original post after it travelled much farther than we ever imagined. We think it made its point. Now we'd rather leave this story with a different one:

Neighbours don't always agree. Friends don't always get it right. But kindness and communication are still a pretty good place to start!

Oh , and it’s Lake Ontario!
