What a moment at the Sakura Festival! 🥁

On May 10th, members Janet and John Lucas attended the Sakura Festival in Burlington, celebrating the twinning of our city with Itabashi, Japan — a relationship that's been going strong since 1989.

The connection to our club runs deep. In June 1999, Kan Nakazawa — who served as Chairman of the Itabashi City Council in 1989 — gifted our club a large Taiko drum. Hearing it performed live at the festival was something special. Janet said it best: "Wow."

Moments like this are a reminder of why community and international connections matter. People of Action, building bridges one beat at a time.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜! 🫙

On Saturday, April 25th, 18 volunteers — including 7 from the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore — packed 2,360 bags of red lentils headed to Jamaica and the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. Even a leaky roof couldn't slow us down!

Huge shoutout to Jacqui, Glen, Surjit, Jody, Ed, Ennio, Ursula, and everyone else who showed up and got to work. This is what People of Action looks like.

Our next shift is Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 9:30 am (new start time!) at 1494 Wallace Rd, Oakville. We're aiming for 15 Burlington Rotarians — members, Interact, and family/friends welcome. If you're in, let us know how many you're bringing!

Can't make it on the 30th? Future shifts run the last Saturday of each month through December.
