April 19-28, 2026. Durres, Albania
9 round, 4-player Team Swiss, 50+ & 65+, @40/90 + g/30 + 30
90 teams entered, including 21 GMs in the 65+
(Artur Jussupow, John Nunn, Lubomir Ftacnik), and 25 GMs in the 50+, incl. Michael Adams, Simen Agdestein, Jaan Ehlvest...
Two Canadian Teams entered the 50+:
Quebec (ranked 9th):
FM Marc Ghannoum, Simon Gravel, Benoit St.Pierre, IM David Ross, FM Paul Ross
Toronto (27th):
IM Michael Barron, Nicolae Oancea, Ilia Bluvshtein, Merlin Nazareno
Team ranking resulted in the the Canadian teams playing each other in the first round, where Quebec wiped out Toronto 4-0.
In round 2, Quebec was paired up against #2 ranked England -- the only all-GM team of Adams, Gormally, Hebden, Emms, & Davies -- losing +0 =3 -1. The highlight game being Mark Ghannoum's draw as Black vs the 2629-rated GM Michael Adams in a crazily complex game that started with a delayed Schliemann!?
