We’re happy to welcome back to the Share the Road Gran Fondo for our 20th anniversary!

Steam Whistle has been part of our post-ride celebrations in years past, so we’re especially excited to have them back as we mark this milestone year.

The inaugural Share the road Gran Fondo was hosted in 2006 following the tragic death of OPP Sergeant Greg Stobbart who tragically lost his life while training in Milton. Greg’s loss inspired the launch of a movement, and the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. The annual event features the roads that Greg trained on in the beautiful hills of Halton region.

For the last two decades, the Coalition’s mission has been to improve the relationship between motorists and cyclists, and to enhance safety through advocacy and legislative change.

Proceeds from this 20th anniversary event will support the development and launch of Bikeability for Ontario, a new cycling skills education program that the Share the Road Cycling Coalition is developing to enhance road safety, and give our children healthy habits for life, in communities across the province.

Join us on September 20th at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton for 40 km, 80 km, or 110 km of riding, featuring Steam Whistle beverages.

A historic moment for active transportation! 🚴🌉

Our Founder and Board Chair, Eleanor McMahon, recently joined the celebrations marking the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge Multi-Use Path.

The new crossing is more than just a bridge—it features a dedicated, toll-free path for pedestrians and cyclists and becomes the first international border crossing to join the Trans Canada Trail, creating new opportunities for active transportation, tourism, and cross-border connection.

It was wonderful to celebrate this milestone alongside elected officials, project partners, and advocates who have helped make this vision a reality.

Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this incredible piece of infrastructure. Here's to safer, more connected communities on both sides of the border!

Session Spotlight: From Division to Common Ground: Changing the Narrative on Cycling

Across Ontario, conversations around cycling infrastructure have grown sharper and more polarized. Yet beneath the noise, the core priority for Ontarians remains the same: streets with less congestion — and in turn, safer communities, healthier neighbourhoods, and affordable, efficient transportation choices that work for everyone.

Following up on our Mobile Workshop sneak peek, here is an important reminder for attendees planning to join our guided bike tours through Toronto on September 22 and 23.

Selection for all three Mobile Workshops officially opens one week from today on Wednesday, August 19 inside the PheedLoop app.

Because each ride takes attendees directly onto active city streets and trail networks, capacity is strictly capped to ensure safety and quality:

West Route (Waterfront Innovations/Martin Goodman Trail): Capped at 30 riders

Eastern Route (Port Lands Revitalisation and Biidaasige Park): Capped at 20 riders

Downtown Route (Core Transit and Neighbourhood Connections): Capped at 20 riders
