There are many opinions about refugees and other newcomers to Canada. But what is real?

Refugees come to Canada seeking safety and freedom. Many have left behind homes, careers, and dreams for the future because of war, violence, or persecution. As they rebuild their lives, they bring valuable skills and become integral to their new communities.

Swipe through to learn what many hear and what World Renew, with 45 years of experience in refugee resettlement, has witnessed. ➡️

Every step taken in Burlington helped carry encouragement across the world.

On June 6, World Renew staff and supporters joined the Moon in June Road Race in Burlington, Ontario, to support Youth Running Clubs in Africa.

Together, they raised over $4,000 to help more young people join local running clubs where they can run, grow, learn about their physical and spiritual health, and be encouraged by caring mentors.

Thank you to everyone who ran, donated, cheered, and helped make this day possible. Your support is helping young people take meaningful steps forward.

Kickoff is here. ⚽

As the World Cup begins, we are celebrating more than the game. We are celebrating the ways soccer brings people together across communities and generations.

On fields like this one, young people are growing in confidence, practising teamwork, and building friendships that can last far beyond the final whistle.

👀 We’d love to know who you are cheering for this World Cup.

A tap may seem like a small thing, until you have lived without one. 💧

For families in El Cedrito, Honduras, gathering water meant walking to the river, sometimes up to eight times a day. Women often carried a child in one arm and laundry or a water jug in the other.

This spring, students from The King's University travelled to Honduras for a Serve & Learn trip with World Renew. They worked alongside community members to support a new running water system, including a storage tank, main line, and connections directly to homes.

The students also walked to the river and carried water themselves to better understand the challenges families had faced.

“It was very interesting to experience a different way of life and to see how others live. Much of the world lives very differently than I do, and so I learned lots about another culture and perspective on life.”

— Kaylie Seinen, trip participant

After more than 35 years of partnership with The King’s University, we are grateful for another opportunity to learn, serve, and celebrate alongside communities in Honduras.

A room like this is a powerful reminder that everyday Canadians can have a voice in conversations about global hunger.

When Allison Hessels attended Canadian Foodgrains Bank s Hunger on the Hill event, she saw how meaningful it can be to learn, reflect, and speak with leaders about the needs of neighbours around the world.

This October, Hunger on the Hill will once again gather people in Ottawa to build advocacy skills, learn more about global food security, and discuss Canada’s role in responding to hunger shaped by conflict, climate change, and injustice.

Whether advocacy is new to you or something you have cared about for years, your voice matters.

When people are forced to leave home, hunger often follows close behind.

Ahead of World Refugee Day, Canadian Foodgrains Bank is hosting a webinar to help us better understand the connection between forced migration and food security, and how Christians can respond with compassion, prayer, giving, learning, and advocacy.

World Renew’s Jon Self will be joining as a panelist, along with Canadian Foodgrains Bank and member staff, to share how communities around the world are responding to hunger and displacement.

Join us on June 17 at 7PM EST as we learn together and consider how we can support people forced to flee their homes.

Support for refugees can take many forms: a warm welcome, a helping hand, and a community willing to walk alongside families as they begin again.

At World Renew Canada, we believe every family deserves the opportunity to rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and hope.

Last week, Peter Timmerman, Executive Director of World Renew Canada, joined more than 100 members of the Christian Reformed Church in North America - CRCNA for the Canadian National Gathering.

Together, participants reflected on the theme, “Foundation to Future,” and discussed important topics facing the church today, including discipleship, faith formation, community outreach, leadership, and building strong communities.

“I deeply appreciated spending three days with over 100 members of the Christian Reformed Church of North America discussing the theme: Foundation to Future,” says Peter. “Together we discussed key challenges faced by the church today, including discipleship, community outreach, faith formation, building community, and the leadership ecosystem.”

A small set of wheels can make a big difference. 🚲

Through last year’s Canadian Gift Catalogue, 255 bicycles for children were purchased.

On World Bicycle Day, we’re giving thanks for gifts that help children move through daily life with a little more ease, joy, and independence.
