338 Junior Wildcats Brossard Optimist Squadron Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR)

On May 24th, 338 Squadron Brossard Optimist proudly hosted its Annual Ceremonial Review. This event celebrates the dedication and effort the cadets have invested over the training year and gives them the chance to demonstrate their skills. Guests enjoyed performances from the joint music band, the effective speaking team, the dance crew, and the drill team. The ceremony also included the presentation of several awards, such as Best Cadet, Most Improved Cadet for each level, the Service Medal, and many more. We warmly thank all those who came out to support the cadets.

On June 6th our Drill Team had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Provincial Drill Team Competition in the Excellence category (Teams with 18 to 24 cadets) at the Saint-Jean Garrison. The team learned a mandatory and a discretionary sequence all the while qualifying for the provincial competition by achieving the highest overall score during the regional competition. To achieve this feat, the teams had to demonstrate exceptional discipline, execute drill movements with precision, and present their finest uniforms.

May 29th was the 338 Squadron’s Gala which served to award hardworking cadets from each optional activity, level and fitness completion insignias. Alongside that, there was an amazing performance by our dance crew who demonstrated their commitment with a song choreographed by the cadets. For the lemon prizes, officers and cadets who got the most votes in a category got to eat a lemon. This night was a special one for some of our senior cadets as we bid our farewells to those that age-out.

Everyone had a great time celebrating, eating, and spending time with their comrades.

Last week’s Change of Command Parade on May 15th marked a powerful moment of transition within our cadet unit. With great pride and respect, WO1 Wen Qi Zhang officially handed over leadership to WO1 Andy Chang, symbolizing both the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. The ceremony reflected the strong tradition, discipline, and continuity that define our corps, while celebrating both the achievements of our outgoing and incoming senior leadership.

We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to WO1 Chang on assuming this role. This ceremony stands as a reflection of their demonstrated leadership, dedication, and the confidence placed in them by the squadron.

The parade was made even more meaningful as over 100 cadets were recognized with promotions, reflecting months or even years of dedication, discipline, and hard work.

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to WO1 Wen Qi Zhang and WO2 Wen Bo Zhang for their commitment, guidance, and the meaningful and lasting impact they have made on the unit as dive in a new chapter of their life.

Cooking activity 👨‍🍳
On May 1st, the Level 2 cadets enjoyed a fun and delicious hands‑on cooking activity, making blended smoothies and DIY chocolate cupcakes in a mug. With plenty of jokes and laughter filling the room, the cadets made the most of this unique and memorable experience!
