The Brooks & Area FRN delivers high quality prevention and early intervention services and supports for families with children aged 0-18, through a provincial network of community –based service providers. Family Resource Network's (FRN) support expectant parents, families, caregivers and communities to support the safety and resiliency of infants, children, and youth within nurturing and supporti
ve environments. Through a ‘hub and spoke’ model of service delivery, Networks (hubs) will coordinate the prevention and early intervention services in all geographic areas and in various cultural communities across the province – either directly or through collaborative partnerships with qualified service agencies or providers (spokes). The SPEC HUB is the main point of entry for the Brooks and Area FRN for families who have children 0 – 18. The HUB coordinates the delivery of all FRN services, supports and programming either directly or through formal collaborative partnerships promoting optimal matching of family needs and services. Parents As Teachers promotes early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers through home visitation (0-6yrs). Some resources available include Parenting the Love and Logic Way approach, Stages and Ages Questionnaire and Infant Massage Classes. Best Babies (Bridges Family Programs) provides home visitation services for expectant parents and/or families to make healthy lifestyle choices (prenatal-9 months). Best Babies offers information on pregnancy and postnatal care, child development, feeding baby and nutrition, access to free nutritional resources, etc. Building Blocks (Bridges Family Programs) provides home visitation services for expectant parents and/or families (0-6yrs). Building Blocks connects families to community resources and provides information on parent & child interaction and attachment, child development, nutrition, budgeting, etc. Child & Youth Skill Development (McMan) offers programs that are evidence-based and focus on sessions that build supportive and nurturing relationships with opportunities to develop self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-esteem (ages 7-17yrs). Youth Connections (SPEC) offers after-school drop-in programs that provide engaging and safe activities to strengthen their connections with peers, family, and community (7-17 yrs). Bridges In-Home Support (Bridges Family Programs) offers in-home, targeted and intensive family support (0-18yrs). Bridges offers information and support on responsive parenting, meeting basic needs, healthy relationships between parent/teen, etc. Parent/Caregiver Education (SPEC) programs and supports are offered that promote the parent-child relationship, safe nurturing home environments and encourage positive parenting practices. Services support parents/caregivers to understand what children and youth need most in order to thrive and succeed, as well as increasing parental confidence and competence in their role as caregivers (0-18yrs).
