Friday, May 29, 2026 is a day that will be remembered by Rotarian Chris Reed, centre. While out doing some errands, Chris suffered a heart attack. Lucky for him, Aiden Devos, left, and Lucas Wheatley, right, both staffers with the Municipality of Brighton, were close by and rushed over to help. A requirement of the job is to have a current first aid certification. This came in handy when they saw Chris drive his car into the curb. They helped him and called 9-1-1. Paramedics Meredith Lortie and Lindsay Wing arrived in short order and ensured him a quick trip to Peterborough Hospital where he was treated and released the following Tuesday.
The Club turned out in full force to thank Lucas and Aiden for their efforts that day.
Thanks to all first responders and those who help in any emergencies. You are all appreciated.

Chris Bates from No Frills pulled the winning ticket while Rotarian Steve Sleightholm looked on. That ticket belonged to Sheila Davis of Brighton. Apparently her husband Bruce bought the ticket, so she didn’t believe she won. Once she realized it, she was thrilled to come and pick up her prize of $1,000 in gift cards to shop at No Frills. From left is Chris, Sheila, Rotary president Joyce Cassin, and Angela Bates.
Thanks to everyone who supports the Rotary Club of Brighton.

Congratulations to all the participants who qualified for the Regional Bee, and to the winners. It was a great day.

“Today, I had the privilege of presenting a check on behalf of the Rotary Club of Brighton to Gem Munro of the Amarock Society, in recognition of their invaluable work supporting education of women and children in impoverished countries. This contribution underscores our commitment to making a positive impact in these communities, said Emily Steele-Jacklyn on March 12, 2026.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Rotary Club of Belleville for graciously hosting the community service luncheon for all community service clubs in the area.

Together, we can continue to foster positive change and uplift those in need.”
