Twiggy’s babies are 5 weeks old! 🐾

Where has the time gone?! These six little nuggets are growing like weeds, finding their feet, discovering their voices… and keeping their foster family VERY busy! 😂

At five weeks old, they’re a full-time job and becoming much more mobile - which means they’re also becoming much more adventurous when it comes to potty time. 😉

And THAT means we are going through puppy pads at an alarming rate! 🫣😂

Six puppies + tiny bladders + lots of exploring = our puppy pad supply disappears FAST!

A little community love goes a long way…💜

We wanted to take a moment to give a heartfelt shoutout to our friends at Brighton Clothing and Treasures who have supported K9Crusaders year after year with incredibly generous donations. Their kindness has helped us continue rescuing dogs in need, and we are so grateful.

Right now, they’re facing a tough season. With all of the road closures and construction in Brighton, getting to their store takes a little extra effort - and unfortunately, this summer has been very challenging for them as a result.

If you’ve been meaning to do a little thrifting, donate some treasures, or simply support a wonderful local organization, we hope you’ll consider making the detour. Every purchase helps them continue the amazing work they do for groups like ours and so many other organizations that make our community a better place.

PUPDATE ALERT💜

We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the love and interest these six little ones have received! 💜 And we have a little more information to share about these beautiful babies.

Our veterinarian believes that Twiggy and her puppies are all purebred Pomeranians, and some of the puppies may have particularly rare colouring. While we don’t have DNA testing to officially confirm their lineage, our vet’s trusted assessment certainly explains why these little ones have captured so many hearts!

But with all that interest comes a very important reminder: these puppies are not just adorable little faces. They are often a 15 to 18 year commitment. 🐾

Pomeranians are wonderful, bright, affectionate little dogs, but they also come with some very specific needs. Their beautiful coats require significant, regular grooming and maintenance throughout their lives. They are energetic, intelligent and often very vocal, so they need families prepared to provide plenty of exercise, stimulation, training and attention.

Because of their energy and tendency to make noise, they may not be the best fit for apartment living, particularly if playful puppy noise could be an issue.

We know it’s easy to fall completely in love with these tiny faces…and trust us, we get it! But our job is to look beyond the puppy stage and make sure each baby is matched with a family who is prepared for the dog they will become, not just the puppy they are today.

We are so grateful for the incredible interest in Twiggy’s babies. Every application will be considered carefully, with the puppies’ best interests at heart.💜

Because the goal isn’t simply to find them homes. It’s to find them their happily ever after, FOREVER homes. 💜🐾

“Jewel-ly” may be over, but our sweet girl’s story is not finished yet.

Jewel is still waiting for the person who will see her, choose her, and give her the forever home she deserves. The one who will look into those beautiful eyes and know, “There you are… I’ve been looking for you.”

Until that day comes, she’ll need a foster home where she will be surrounded by love, patience, and people who believe her happily ever after is out there. ✨

💜 RESCUE NEWS 💜

It’s been puppy fever around K9Crusaders lately, but our passion for helping senior dogs has never wavered.

Last week, we welcomed this curly-haired cutie into our care after her beloved elderly human transitioned into long-term care. It meant so much to her family to know that Trixie would continue to feel safe, loved, and cherished as she begins this new chapter. We are truly honoured that they entrusted this sweet girl to us.

Trixie is as easy-going as they come. She has exceptional house manners, takes everything in stride, and has settled beautifully into her foster home, where she is patiently waiting for her happily ever after.

Senior dogs have so much to offer - quiet companionship, unwavering loyalty, and the kind of gentle love that only comes with age. Trixie would benefit from a more active lifestyle than she has enjoyed in recent years, so she’d be the perfect match for an active retiree or someone looking for a walking buddy to share leisurely strolls and cozy evenings.

As we come to the end of “Jewel-ly”, our hearts are a little heavier than we had hoped. Despite sharing Jewel’s story throughout the month, we haven’t received a single adoption application for this sweet girl.

Today, we’re putting out an urgent plea.

Jewel now needs a new foster home.

Her family made the incredibly difficult decision to reach out to us after significant changes in their lives. This decision was made out of love and heartbreak, and we ask that everyone continue to show them kindness and compassion. They have loved Jewel dearly for the past six years and want nothing more than to see her safe, happy, and thriving.

At this point, time is becoming a factor. For Jewel’s well-being, she needs to be moved as soon as possible so she can begin to decompress and start her healing journey.

Jewel’s ideal foster home would be a quiet one, without other animals, where she can simply exhale and feel safe while we continue our search for the forever family she so deserves. She doesn’t need perfection - she just needs a soft place to land.

Our Sweetest Surprises Are Here!💜

We’d like to officially introduce Twiggy’s six tiny sweet treats.

Meet Truffle, Toffee, Skittles, Snickers, Fudge and Jellybean!

At less than a week old, these little babes spend their days snuggled up with Mama Twiggy - sleeping, nursing, and growing bigger by the day. It’s hard to believe something so small can bring so much joy!

We’re so excited to share their very first official photos with you and can’t wait for you to follow along as they grow over the coming weeks.

💜PUPPY NEWS💜
Our hearts are very full this morning! In the wee hours, Twiggy welcomed six beautiful puppies into the world - we believe they are four little girls and two handsome boys!

Mom and babies are doing well. The puppies are making plenty of noise, nursing like champs, and Twiggy is already proving to be a wonderful mama.

Sadly, one tiny little puppy, a sweet baby girl who was perfect but much smaller than her siblings, was born sleeping. While we’re grieving her loss, we’re also celebrating the six precious lives snuggled up beside their mama.

Thank you to everyone who has been following Twiggy’s journey and keeping her in your thoughts. Your love and support mean the world to us, and we know you’ll be just as excited as we are to watch these little ones grow over the coming weeks.

Olive Update 💜

Sweet Olive had her post-surgical check-up today, and we’re thrilled to share that she’s healing beautifully! Everything is looking great, and she’s well on her way to a full recovery.

She is absolutely thriving in her foster-to-forever home, where she is adored beyond words. Seeing her so happy, safe, and loved is the ending we had hoped for all along.

Her difficult past is now behind her, and her future is filled with love, comfort, and the life she has always deserved. Thank you to everyone who supported Olive on her journey - you helped make this happy ending possible. 🐾
